Wow I think I have just discovered the power of forums, ask a question and get lots of peoples experience and advice,

Now what do you do with a spaghetti stain on a white linen shirt? I joke.... but thanks a lot, I had looked at a lot of best of web sites and did not find what I was looking for, something about the personal touch when someone recommends something to you.

A movie you must see is It's a matter of life and death. It may be 62 years old but it is an amazing movie. Part fantasy part science fiction and part romance its a must see. Its one of if not David Niven's best movie and it's in colour to. The special effects are amazing and at times you find yourself thinking I can't believe that this was made in 1946.

I've watched Crash a few times... definitely one of the best movies I've seen for the same reason that you say.

I think Aries suggested ''The Lives of Others'' (german) which is similar in that it portrays people in different situations, from different angles.....

Two, again of the same kind of movie, that come to my mind are ''There Will Be Blood'' and a turkish / german movie that came out this year called '' The Edge of Heaven''.

I know what you mean about these movies. They are more true of the human condition and the reality of good and bad in people..... it's like the words in that U2 song: 'you're a vampire or a victiim, it depends on who's around.........'

Also, they are full of truth and understanding for all people and lives...... they reflect the unfathomable complexity of human interaction.

I've never even heard of ''Babel'' but I'm off to look for it now. Thanks.

I will watch "The edge of Heaven" It sounds very good.

"There will be blood" is a harrowing tale and I will watch it again soon, I think you will like "Babel".

I find I am drawn to Films that examine the perception of good and evil, and how subjective that perception can be. It is really wonderful to watch a film and find yourself replaying the insights they give you again and again until these become in some way part of us.

Thank you all very much, I shall return - No he stole it off me rolling on the floor laughing
It will take ages to get through this lot, love it.

Then maybe a discussion on what people think of each movie.

(wonder does anyone read threads once they have gone cold)

cheers
