The rules in the old testament were changed in the new testament when Jesus came. Now I am not sure what some of the rules for this age is, as I asked in another threat, but the ones of the ten commandments are the only ones that I feel I need to fallow.

as for prostitution I personally do not believe in it, if there is another way many of these girls would take it, as the lady said she is now a accountant, she did want something better.

I don't agree with what Sptizer did and I myself would never entertain that kind of work...However people do have choices...and it doesn't make them wrong or bad for choosing what someone else might deem as immorral!!!!!!!!!!

Spitzer would have cheated regardless..even if prostitution didn't exist because that's what cheaters do....What's immorral to you may not be immorral to others....and we aren't god therefore...I don't think it's our place to judge!!!!!!!!!

The problem with prostitution per se, is that it is illegal in many parts of the world. A politician sworn to office, shall not engage in illegal activities.

Now, if he is a Christian, the laws of his church expressly commands to
remain faithful to his wife, correct?

If not judged by the law of men, he will have to answer to the law of his God. And since he commited adultery and engaged in illegal activities by procuring the paid services of a sexual partner, then he will have to answer to his Government laws, which he was sworn to obey.

I agree with you when you say that he would have cheated regardless... the fact the he chose to pay for it, I don't know... maybe he was trying to convey a message to his wife that by paying for it "didn't mean a thing, it was only sex" whereas keeping a mistress would have meant a more solid and meaningful relationship?

I'm not judging, nor calling him immoral. But prostitution is still illegal. dunno

Sorry if I got that wrong, just when you said you became an account I jumped to the conclusion you did not want to do your old job, but that is your choice and you do what you believe in. I would not be able to do that but if you find nothing wrong with it why should I say different to you.wave

I think the Bible is a recount of History... not a "How-to Manual" Personally, I don't trust the bible, I actually see it as a very ancient History Book.

Sorry to hear that your father suffered through his last years, but maybe he did make peace with his God. Maybe it could have been even worse.

I believe in Karma, in cause and effect. I practice the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin (you can Google it, or go to Beliefnet.com), ever since I was 9 y/o. I strongly believe in Karma. I know that everything, good or bad, that happens to me has to do with the causes, conscious or unconscious, past or present, that have made. And I am taking the steps to alliviate that Karma. So, now I don't look for happines outside of me, but within. I polish my life's mirror to reflect on others, and sort of cast my good karma around me. I believe in me. Everything I need and desire is within me, and I can have it all, yes sir, we all can.

Well no that's not true as this article explains and there is also a charge of operating a common bawdy house...which is a brothel under the Criminal Code....

No Legalized Brothels for 2010 Olympics - Canadian Justice Minister

By Hilary White

OTTAWA, February 8, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Canadian Justice Minister has rejected the notion of decriminalizing prostitution, a move that had been called for by a British Columbia organization leading up to the 2010 Olympics.

"We are not in the business of legalizing brothels, and we have no intention of changing any of the laws relating to prostitution in this country," Justice Minister Rob Nicholson told the Commons Status of Women Committee on Thursday.

A group calling itself the B.C. Coalition of Experiential Communities was attempting to pressure the government to create legal brothels for the upcoming Winter Olympics in 2010. The move had the support of both Liberal MP Libby Davies and Vancouver mayor Sam Sullivan.

Nicholson made his comments in the face of a majority recommendation from the status of women committee that federal prostitution laws be changed to prosecute only those procuring sex, or pimps who exploit prostitutes.

Nicholson told the committee, "We have laws with respect to street soliciting or soliciting in public places that criminalizes completely the activity - the individual that is trying to purchase that service and the individual that is offering it. And (those) will continue to be the laws of this country."

The idea to legalize prostitution in Canada has some big-name supporters in Parliament. In 2005, the Liberal Party of Canada said that legalized prostitution was a priority on the convention agenda. A proposal to legalize prostitution was introduced as a private members bill by Vancouver East NDP Libby Davies. Liberal Senator Mac Harb, a long-time supporter of legalized prostitution, was quoted by the Toronto Sun saying, "It's a great idea."

But groups that work with at-risk women do not share the enthusiasm of Canada's political elites. Daisy Kler of the Vancouver Rape Relief and Women's Shelter said, "The city thinks that foreign tourists should be entitled to women's bodies as part of their tourist package. And obviously we're going to object to that and we're not going to stand for it in our name."

"In countries where brothels have been decriminalized, the sex industry - both legal and illegal, indoor and on the street - has increased exponentially. This has, in turn, led to increased trafficking and child exploitation," she told the Vancouver Sun.

Sorry to post this but there are no legal brothels in Canada and escort and massage parlours...both can be licensed only if you're NOT getting paid sex with the customers...If caught you will be charged under the same applicable law...operating a common bawdy house or soliciting for the purposes of sex if caught getting paid to have sex with clients!!!!!!!!!!

There is no legal form of prostituition at all in Canada whatsoever!!!!!!!!!

The Bible is a great work of fiction. Plagurized from a number of ancient religions.

If you truely follow the bible, why dn't you own slaves, and kill anyne who works on the sabbath?

Just a question. It says so in the bible....

Quoting: "The Bible is a great work of fiction. Plagurized from a number of ancient religions."

I don't think it is a work of fiction. At least the historical events are more or less accurately rendered. What I find truly aggravating, is that Pope Constantine in his Nicea (?) Council, chose which Gosspels to include in the book and which ones to be left out. (If he had included all of them, we will still be reading the Scared Book)

The "Da Vinci Code" although a work of fiction, seems to be based on a book called "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln, a book seriously researched by its authors, which offers a very different perspective of the Catholic Church and its upper members. For one, it seem so obvious the fear that early Christian authorities had of the Feminine Power and the so called "pagan" religions and sought to erradicate everything and anything that had to do with the Worship of Nature. Up to the point that on e of the Gosspels written by Christ's most devoted disciples, was left out from the Bible: Mary Magdalene's Gosspel. There have been found many, many Gosspels, and the question remains: Why were they left out?

So great was the fear of the Divine Feminine that they sought to portray Mary Magdalene as a, guess what? Right! A Prostitute. Ergo, making prostitution the oldest profession, registered with the Highest Authority, mind you: The Church and the Bible...

Just random thoughts... I haven't had any coffee and I am hungry... going to get some whole-wheat toasts and sugar free orange marmalade... and a big mug of coffee!

peace
