The purported target teaches third-grade students with learning disabilities, including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity, friends and parents said.

I agree with what everyone is saying about how sad and shocking this story is and what the world seems to have come to..

However, just a point, this is a class of special needs kids with problems...learning problems, probably emotional problems...this is not a class full of average kids...

also, the type of teacher who should be working with this type of kids is one who should be trained for dealing with them and with the natural ability and talent to work with them and gain their trust and respect...had she/he had a good working relationship with them, such an incident would never had occurred...

Ok hold on, they're saying that these were kids with learning disabilities and they're this smart? Something's up there.

3 of the kids brough a paperweight the tape and the knife. They should definately be in trouble.

Talk is talk. When I was in elementry school we used to sing stupid songs that went "glory glory hallalujia the teacher hit me with the ruler I met her at the bank with a German army tank and she aint my teacher anymore!" My mother even knew that song from her elementry school years. She's in her mid 50's now. Hating the teacher's been around forever, but noone ever really meant to act on or harm anybody. Who hasn't in their schooltime either drawn or laughed at a drawing of their most hated teacher with an arrow through their head. It doesn't mean you or that person would actually shoot them. I remember in school kids that used to plot to fill the teachers chair with thumbtacks. Nobody ever did it. The rest of these kids were probably just as harmless. Like they said that one kid left the fake gun home.

It's easy to blame the TV and the video games. If the parents are there and involved in these kids lives the TV has no power. Unfortunately the economy doesn't allow anyone to stay home and raise the kids anymore so we can't really blame the parents either. We're all screwed by the system. For the record, there is far more violence in Japanese entertainment, where many of these videogames come from, yet juvinile crime is practically non existant in that country. What are we doing wrong over here?

As for the people who were saying you weren't as smart as these kids when you were younger.......You weren't as smart as a class full kids with learning disabilities? Wow....

Mean and smart are two different things.
