I once heard from an atheist this version: "Religion is for people who are going to hell, spiritualism is for those afraid of a God".The person sold Family Bibles in North Carolina...
All depends on which religion or which religious teachings one follows. I'd never classify the Amish or Mennonites as sheep or unthinking; probably same for those who follow "Christian Science"( met a lot that worked for the Christian Science Monitor newspaper...and most likely the region the peoples are from. Roman Catholics in Europe are very independent minded, whereas in South America, let's say the rural areas around major cities, they indeed are more like sheep or cattle. That is not right. It is demeaning to be slavish .

Solitare, I must agree with you concerning the Amish and Mennonites. They are wonderful people. I study a little of Mary Baker Eddy and her Christian Science teachings. I find nothing wrong with them. I also enjoy reading their paper. I have not found any of them in this area, as I live remote. I do fellowship with the Seventh Day Adventist here, as there are many in this area. They live a healthy lifestyle and I have learned much from them in their vegan cooking classes. The particular church I attend is one where the staff of the Lifestyle Center of America attend. I love interacting with the doctors, dieticians, nurses and staff. We have open discussions durring Sabath School and I see that this particular group is growing to think for themselves and discern between today and the teachings of Ellen White, rather laying aside some of her messages as "old hat".

Religions can be very slavish, and as a whole, I am very anti-religion.

I have a question, if I could. It does not follow along completely with this topic. But I am fairly new to the forums, and have found something that has upset me a lot.
I had started another thread yesterday. And everyone was giving there opinion. And I respect everyones opinions.
But then along comes someone who happens to be from the EU. And starts ranting at me that I was wrong with articals I posted about the EU. Led people to belive that it was working over there very well!
Now I happen to be surffing thru all the threads every where and I find this person has just posted, nothing but complaints and disgust for the same issues he was bragging up on my thead trying to make me look bad. They even went so far as to curse me.
What can or should be done about this? As I said I am new here I don't want to make enemy's but I also do not like being made to look like a complete idiot by someone lieing to do it! Frankly I can do that well enough on my own.
Please could some one give me some advice?

There are just some people that need to feed off negativity and strive to make a persons life miserable. Remember misery loves company. Don't reply to their remarks and just go about doing what you've been doing. They'll eventually get bored and find another victim if they choose not to grow up in the meantime.

Don't stop posting because of them hug hug hug

Sage advice. Hard-to-believe, but there are those out there that exist to cause trouble, perhaps to make them feel better about themselves. dancing

Try not to give it a second thought. I've been bashed, ridiculed, insulted. We can't account for human-kind. Yes it hurts sometimes.

Be well my dear.

I reckon you have to harden yourself to personal attacks round here - its quite amazing to see the lengths people will go to to either deflect attention from themselves or muddy the waters for other posters - I guess we live and learn - whichever side of the divide we exist upon - human nature at its best laugh
