I don't fully understand myself tonight (much less understanding men).

I saw deniz38's photo and went all soft and mushy inside.

I don't think that they do. I mean, when their answer to not understanding is, "You're a woman" or "You're a man," then I have no hope that men and women will understand each other.
But I do think that individuals can understand each other.

...And we don't change our minds, we just second-guess ourselves too much

The shortest distance between a woman and a man is a straight line,
so tell her that and then both will be in agreement. Women want security, sensitivity, respect, and they also love for a man to pamper them, so guys get to it. Give them the real deal, that's how they feel...

Difficult, yes, but then it's difficult to deeply understand any individual - including our own selves.

There's no question most of us possess the intelligence to grasp certain general differences between the sexes - and more importantly the differences between ourselves and our mates. Just requires a bit of work and dedication toward that end. There's no impenetrable mystery involved.
