thats what i hate sometimes...people think God is just some genie that you can call forth ONLY when your in a bad position...sorry but it doesn't work like that...read the parable of "JOB" and you will see what im talking about...AND also God KNOWS what you truly NEED, such as a better character and such..."cast your old self away", God cannot be near sinful beings...instead of trying to find God you should try to find the only person who can truly get you there, Jesus...."No one comes to the father but Him".

Firstly God knows and loves us all.. that was part of Jesus message... and through him (Jesus) we all have the means to know him.. also Jesus walked with sinners and thieves... that is symbolic I think.. nobody is out of reach.. but yes as you say we have to open our hearts to him and accept that he sent his son to save us.. My interpretation of the only way to God is through Jesus.. is slightly different.. Jesus I think was sent her to show us the way (to live and praise) he gave us the map and pointed the direction... the rest is up to us.. also look at the parable of the 'prodical son'.. the son that was at home and obedient was loved as much as the Son who was out there making his own mistakes... at the end of the day.. the door was wide open and the father was waiting (patiently) for his return and forgave him immediately on his return.. God is an unconditionally loving father he will never turn his back on any of his children.. but if they chose to turn away from him then he will let them be to find their own way... that is why we have 'free will' if he wanted to he could have made us as clones.. with no will of our own, I think it is significant that he gave us our own minds.. then if we go to him it will be a sincere decision.. one born out of love and an innate (familial) connection to him.... as a father though he is not beyond tough love though.. when appropriate.. wine

there's all this talk about "Does God exist", but truly people you should look towards the most concrete evidence that he does exist! he sent his son!....
...i dont know what troubles some of you to think God doesn't exist because he doesn't do this and he doesn't do that, when THE only problem thats occring in your life is YOU and only you, CHANGE FOR THE BETTER and you will find that God was with you the whole time!.....im not trying to preach to anyone, but people's image of God has been warped by society...
...because of "SIN" we cannot communicate directly with God..
BEFORE
Humans------------------------------------------God
SIN
Sinful beings(Humans) God in the far distance
AFTER
Sinful beings(Humans)-----The Son(Jesus)------God

That being said, you can call upon Jesus to help you, if anything, He will at least be with you through your trials and tribulations, whether self inflicted or not.

thumbs up... this is so true Princess.. quite a number of religions do this..take an isolated number of passages from the Bible and base there whole belief system upon these... Like e.g. Jehovah Witness... they are good and devout people I am sure.. but something I could never accept as a part of any religion is an unwillingness to forgive and a practice of turning ones back on persons who do not quite see it there way... In Matthew the message of forgiveness is clear and in fact the whole 'point' of Jesus' being was love, acceptance and forgiveness.. to not have a capacity to forgive (even those that do not deserve our forgivness) is not only slightly missing the point but missing the point entirely.. the Bible is to be read as a whole I think, and in a certain light... not many people do this and I am not sure if anyone is capable of it... perhaps some of the mysteries, contained in the Bible are beyond our reach.. or will only be within our reach when we spiritually evolve to a degree that we are more like Jesus(i.e. capable of the level of compassion and love that he was)..

All in all I don't think anyone of us can claim to have all the answers.. cause we don't but it would be a good start.. IMHO if we just loved eachother in spite of our difference.. as Jesus did for us

hug wine

Indeed.

That's what I've been saying, and people don't think about him when things are going right, just when they need him when all is going wrong.

We have to thank him EVERYDAY for what we have and for everything we're going through...

In Matthew the message of forgiveness is clear

Buddhists, catholics...we all believe in forgiveness...but do we really , really forgive? After all what's to forgive really???

People always tend to ask me why I forgive and give second, third chances to people.....am I perfect? No. Do I make mistakes? Yes. Who am I NOT to forgive?? It doesn't mean Ill allow anyone to step all over me.

And...Love thou enemies....yes, loving the people we like is quite easy, loving the people who get into our nerves is pretty damn hard...yet not impossible....

That was a very good quote! Above!!!!
And pain and suffering dose exists always has and will prolly always will...called longsuffering! and if people would get into the word (the bible) then they would know this and there faith would be stronger. we can cry and screem all we want but if were not in god's word what good is screeming and crying out! How can god tell us if we dont you dont know of him.God is a gentalmen he let's us do our thang! Free will!!!!
