I agree Ship...it is the worse crime except for murder. I am Catholic and I am disgusted with the church and what they did to cover this up.

IMO
murder is more merciful
this act on a helpless individual is murer of the soul
the ability to build intimacy w/ anyone
and undermines spiritual connections-

its the worst

i say this as a survovor-but not church related...

why leave someone to function -not-
why? its cruel
i guess at the time the perp doesnt think they are so bad cuz they arent murdering

oh boy this is gettin me too riled up

touchy subject

ill read mail and split shortly i think

hug <<<myself-one more night-one of 1000's

but we keep on trudgin yay for usthumbs up

Sorry you went through this MF...I understand why you think it is comparable to murder. In many ways you are right..it can be worse than being killed...the victim has to live with it for the rest of their lives.

I use to be for the death penalty...I changed my mind and I am now against it. Maybe I would change back to being for the death penalty for the pathetic garbage who sexually abuses children.

A noted canadian psychologist makes this comment. A lot of men turned to the church over the years to find answers and forgiveness, And a cleansing or cure to the sexual abuse they had recieved in there own family home growing up. But the Church failed to help them or give them the understanding they sought.

So without help and the understanding and forgiveness they sought. Left them with what they knew.

Now to give another view.

Someone is offered a chance to make millions others will want there share. All they need to do is learn a story and stick by it. The more extreme the problem appears the more sensationalised the story will become. The easier it will become to obtain payout and have it all hushed up.
One man accused of indency by a rejected lover. 50 others jump on the band wagon to make a little gold. All they have to do is prove they went through the same agency. I'm not saying guilty or innocent but the situation is so open for others to get in and rip the system off. There maybe two actual victims but theres twenty riding the coattails seeking easy street. Mates and hangers on, who passed through the same system.

i dunno
the death penalty is a can of worms but spendin money keepin people alive 20, 30, 40 yrs? we need that money to feed homeless children right here in america

and many many people have been sexually victimized-as kids or teens or adults-its a bunch of beliefs that stem from that
all untrue -we didnt deserve it but thats is an immediate and deep belief-a shame that colors everything...

its overcomeable to varying degrees
but what else could these victims have been doing with their lives while trying to recover for years
its a huge loss and skewing of societys potential productive members-so we are chipped away at as a society
broken families
abused often become abusers
it just sux but ...

oh fek
we all know how awful it is
the death penalty maybe if info proven in trial was shared w/ population and each was put to death by vote in that county or state
we could be spending less money
im not sayin jail is nice for them-i dont care-
but we are wasting buckets of money
building new jails all the time-huuuge industry-there have to be other solutions more fiscally responsible to society as a whole?

I think the church failed many people in many ways....but most of all they failed the victims by letting the abuse continue rather than doing something about it...simply to save the supposed good name of the church!!!!!!!!!.....blues

There may be a few nuts out there who would proclain abuse to get money...BUT I don't belive that the majority of people would...you can probably just take a look at their lives and see the evidence of past abuse alive and well!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is sad that they still paid an excess of a hundred million last year.

That just goes to show the amout of abuse that has run rampant through the chrurch....very sad indeed...Maybe if they would have done something about it when it first started to happen they could have saved lives rather than paying out what now amounts to guilt money....wine

I guess the church's angle is to forgive and let god send you to hell. The church is very zelous about every other sin , why this one is glased over is odd.
Not to defend the church but they have no athority to prosicute and restrictions on sharing information. They however still have excomunication. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LOL and 'oops' circomcision.
