In response to:
* I wonder if we are expecting too much of " forum etiquette "
from people? What do you think ?
I frequently wonder why 'forum netiquette' is being enforced in the threads rather than in a discreet email to whomever is making an ass of themselves. Public dressing down of a 'virtual' stranger is quite rude in my book. There is a difference between remarking on something and telling somone they should not be doing it.
In response to:
* Is it up to us to make people feel welcome and make them feel
comfortable or is it up to them to mix and join in the threads ?
It is all very well to say hi, hello etc. but if the next time the newbie posts we all blow right by without a word, well they will feel ignored whether it is justified or not. I think frequently the Op could make more of an effort to respond to those who comment on their threads, even if they do what vido 1 did and acknowledge several posters in one response.
I do that myself because i feel odd inadvertently bumping my own stuff every time i comment on a comment. I am working on that.
In response to:* Do you think people resort to rude posting time and again to get
noticed or make a point ( new or old anyone )?
Sometimes
In response to:* Keeping in mind this is a dating site , are we many a times way off
track making it boring for people actually looking for a partner ?
The forums, for me, are a place to get to see the people behind the profiles and to talk about our interests. I think that is why there are all those topic headings offered.
People will choose to be bored if that is what contents them.
I occasionally read threads that sound uninteresting from the title (to me at least) and frequently find unexpected treasure there.
In response to:* Is this an issue to even think about at all ? If yes, what can be done
about it ??
Certainly, if it entertains you. No matter what is done there will always be someone who thinks it should be done differently so don't stress it.
Life is sweet and frequently short.
Live it.
