I think people have to take responsibility for themselves, if they introduce themselves on a thread they get a lot of warm responses from everyone. After that, it's a bit like real life... you have to get to know people and start mingling. I haven't been around that long... only 3 months, and I remember those early days of feeling invisible and uncertain but I stuck it out and now have met some wonderful people that I would love to meet in real life. On the other hand... you can't get along with everyone and we all have our share of spats and disagreements, you just need to put those aside and focus on the positive... and there is a lot of that!

I am all for encouraging the newcomers to join in. When you have been here a while you will realise how easy it is to overlook posts in (as DOD says) fast moving threads like this one. You start typing your response to sorthing on page one and by the time you click submit yout response is on page ten or something.
and the I come along and write a little verserolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

come spin the threads,
just reel them out,
just weave with us a while
the tapestry is life itself
just offering a smile.

Okay, i 'll be quiet now.innocent angel devil

When i first came on the forums i thought it was very clicky and when i did feel brave enough to post, i felt invisible anyway as i was ignored.

Have also had some quite sarcastic and what i have found hurtful responses, so i now avoid posting on certain threads where some people are.

I got a couple of really nice mails from people welcoming me, that really made me feel i was starting to be accepted . Sometimes i think we respond to the people we know not meaning to be rude to others, and in my case learnt i had to make an effort myself to make friends here.

I agree to that.
You just join and take part and see how it goes. Slowly one seems to realise where their affinities lie as in with whom and you start chatting and make friends with those people ...

A gradual process with effortless banter at both ends ..

Goodness me when i joined i had to ask some people to alter their mail settings so that i could communicate with them .. flowers , mails anything.

Mayn times i would try to say something and the message displayed would be " you are out of their region so ... " and i would go on to their thread sometime laters and tell them to change it.

It was a litttlleee embarassing but many people actually didnt know it themselves.

I have actually been here a year and am only just getting really active in the forums. I mean multiple comments in one thread...from me?

Some people hump write in, others creep into the water without a ripple marking their passage.

There is no right or wrong way, although i find the RUDE way objectionable.conversing
