I looked at this discussion and removed all of the open spaces, all of the blank lines, all of the text repeated and emotes and it went from five pages to less then one. How in the world could people be interested in a site when at times you look at a good discussion and more the half of the replies are only emotes stretched out for pages. Rather Juvenal to try to add one word and five emotes is it not. I started this with page five and each of you regulars have now repeated to yourself how happy that you are now that you can talk to each other. This started with a though of adding new to this did it not? You all stated the it was hard to get in and now you are in? Lucky you. It did not take long to look like any of the other discussions here. Same people same story.

Open spaces make reading easier.

Perhaps we are reading different pages? I am a regular, and did not say that...

Are you trying to be rude? Or are you having a bad day? It has been a lively thread that stayed on topic with only minor excursions.

I know you are not new because i have seen you more than once in my who's viewed you box, so if you are not seeing the type of discussions you prefer why not start one?

This is not the first time that I have posted and I am not new here. If I had only bit my lip and agreed with you there would have been no reply on your part. I only expected to be criticized and the discussion started here with how to get new people. Dissensions will not permitted. We must all agree,,,, soon we all sound alike??

Actually no. I don't think any of us sound like you.

There's some dissension for you..

I do think if you criticise you might expect it to be a two way street.

We frequently get what we expect, it is how the Universe works.

The tone and content of your posts would put me off if I were a newbie.

Perfect example of what we can work to avoid.

Well there is certainly a difference between sounding like a bunch of clones and openly criticizing people whom you know nothing about. If this is your normal entrance into a group then might I suggest you read "How to win friends and influence people".

We are all individuals but try to use common courtesy when addressing each other (in most cases) and I have often had differences of opinions with many of my "clone" friends, but try not to insult them when having a difference of opinion.

There is a difference between being rude and walking to a different drummer.

This was a new discussion remember... to find new people, Was that not the idea or was it point out head shapes and chat with old friends. I can see that the subject is no longer as started. It is now to find fault so I will apologize to all who live here and go back to being quite.

hhhmmmmm, sound a bit like " I didn't get my own way... so I'm gonna take my toys and go home!"

It's a shame that you feel it's all right to come in and criticize others, but can't take a little "dissension" when it's thrown back at you.

Not quite. See below.

In response to:
* I wonder if we are expecting too much of " forum etiquette "
from people? What do you think ?

* Is it up to us to make people feel welcome and make them feel
comfortable or is it up to them to mix and join in the threads ?

* Do you think people resort to rude posting time and again to get
noticed or make a point ( new or old anyone )?

* Keeping in mind this is a dating site , are we many a times way off
track making it boring for people actually looking for a partner ?

* Is this an issue to even think about at all ? If yes, what can be done
about it ??

Anytime I point a finger at someone there are three fingers pointing back at me....try it and see.

I think all threads do go out of track here and there. But that way it keeps things healthy and is a good reading. I personally dont have issues with people posting or chitchatting on a thread.

The purpose was to discuss and think to ourselves if there is anything we would do about things ( if there is anything to be done ) and to share views. So, I think thats being served well.

As we all know the forums have limited no. of people. So, if people do get chitchatting i wonder why its a problem as long as the rest of us continue to post our opinions on the matter on hand . Also, we can join the chitchat too.

Ermm .. is there anything else you would like to add ? I am justt rying to explain pls dont be offended.

hi riya

I think the thread was a good idea and made us think about the way we can be percieved by people who are new. I don't think that anyone was saying 'aren't we lucky we have been accepted' but sharing experiences that is how we look at what we do and try to change things for the better !! jmo

Its true Morgan.

We say how it was and just talk our minds. I feel it makes us aware of how we are behaving and how it is perceived as you have said.

We cant always be angelic but we can make an effort to avoid being obviously rude.

~"I think some of the new "would-be-regular-posters" are put off by all the boring chit chat amongst seemingly cliquey members. They must feel like they've turned up at a party where everyone knows each other except themselves so they feel ignored and vow never to return.

This even turns off some of the older regular posters."~

thumbs up

I absolutely agree, and have had a few folks actually express this to me in the past.
