tears chimed silver tracks
down cheeks all wrinkled
with emotion
heart, no longer lonely,
clenched its fist
around the joy
of being loved
of being missed
of being serenaded
I struggle at the moment
as parts of me
go their own way
as panic pushes to get past
good commonsense
not that i have much
of that, words were pretty
more important to me
so i collected them
instead of 'deep browm
anchor me to earth
thoughts' that don't let me
spread the wings I dream
i have for sun to shine through
painting rainbows, shedding flecks
of moondust, starlight all across
the many faces of the world.
Yet commonsense will help me now
as words will not, did not,
will wrap me gently in a blanket
to lead me quietly to shelter
till the storm is done. And part of me
will rage because it loves a challenge
and part of me will smile and walk away.
The battles on my field for once
are more important to me
than riding to the rescue with support
that is not needed and probably not wanted
on a field so full of mud all the faces are the same.
