That's the plan, with age, but for some, you could bag wisdom up for them and put it in their hand and they still could not carry it. smoking

If only it were as simple as age=wisdom!

Unfortunately, one can be as old as the dirt on the hinges of hell... but all that experience wont do a thing for them unless they utilize it!
A young & resourceful person can sweep us all in a blind moment.

You live and learn is the answer to this. Each mistake, experience teaches us. The older you get, the wiser you become.

I think 'you live and learn' is a good way of describing wisdom.. altough not everyone attains it, i.e. not everbody learns from their experience... I think the key is to be capable of introspection and self assessment... if we believe we are never wrong in the first place... we never learn.. and therefore do not achieve 'wisdom'

hey, hey young lady, you don't need to believe you're wrong to achieve wisdom, not need to be punished to realise what's the mistake is all about!
No, seriously, when do serial killers stop? They keep attaining "wisdom" with their experienceslaugh

I believe wisdom comes from both common sense, which you have or don't, and the application of correct judgment which is derived from the mistakes you have made through experience. Wisdom is both a trait of sorts as well as experiential. JMO

Wisdom only comes when we learn something from our mistakes and that is NOT synonymous with age...but whether we can take responsibilty for our own actions and learn from them...thumbs up

Learn from our mistakes and avoid making the same ones if I may add here. Only part of the equation.

Age and experience rather than wisdom are synonymous.

Wisdom should come with age, but truth be told, there are many young people wise beyond their years, due perhaps to experiences that they shouldn't have had as they were growing up. There are also older people who haven't learnt a jot from their life experiences.

Having said that, I have learnt a lot from my grandparents who were indeed wise.

As others have already said, wisdom is about learning valuable lessons from life.

wave kiss Hiya Chris.

Seriously... Serial Killers are mainly psychopaths who enjoy the sensation of inflicting pain...they are sociopathic in the sense that they have difficulty connecting with others or experiencing empathy/emotion and violence is the only thing that give them enjoyment... I don't think they are capable of being introspective and learning from their behaviours, because they will convince themselves that it ok.. not 100% on this Riya would be a better person to answer this.. but no.. don't think 'serial killers' are capable of learning from their actions..

Myself personally I think 'living and learning' involves getting stung or experiencing regret or disappointment, it is these negative emotions, that cause us sometimes to modify our behaviour.. positive feelings will encourage us (or not deter us)
