I am a big enough person to admit when I'm wrong and I should have checked out snopes before posting. It doesn't change my opinion of Obama...there is alot about him that worries me. He has been caught in A LOT of lies so far and I have no respect for liars. I still will not vote for him and neither will any of my family or friends. I just hope that if he makes it to office, I am wrong about what I feel in my gut.

Yes, there were many Irish that felt this was the wrong position for Ireland to take. Some 70,000 joined the British military and fought
as you said for these principles.

But Ireland at the time of the war was part of the British Commonwealth. You have members of the British Commonwealth, like India, Burma, Australia, New Zealand and many others......giving England full support during her 'darkest hours'.

For the Irish Government to take a position of neutrality, when German bombers were flying over London and laying waste to her and many other English cities, does not show me very much in the way of principles.

You may not have figured this out. But this position of nuetrality taken then, effected British decisions with Ireland thru the issues of IRA and British force deployments into Ireland that came 20 and 30 years later. How could it not? By then those making those British decisions were the children under the bombs that the Germans were dropping during WWII. If I was a then a child, and knew that Ireland should be here and fighting...placing her forces, her aircraft and her anti aircraft guns to protect my country in this fight.........and knew that she took a position of nuetrality......I would be angered to. And maybe very justily.

I am not trying to stir up a hornet's nest and I have a feeling that one is coming here. I am glad that British forces have left Ireland and that
IRA, north Ireland, and other issues of the country have and are being resolved. But tell us sir, that Ireland goes around the world fighting for principles, when she cannot go across a few miles of water, to fight for England against Hitler........tells us something else.

Also since there seems Irish anger over comments of Hillary Clinton....to her being a peace maker and to resolving the issues of
North Ireland and the IRA. I think that these are 'poltical spin' on her part. I cannot remember anytime on her visit there...that directly or immediately led to such a peace or ceasefire occurring. I think that your anger is justified in this matter. I also think the anger of the
British on Ireland WWII nuetrality is justified.
