The outrage against actress Khushboo's remarks on premarital sex continues. But is remaining a virgin till marriage such a big deal these days?

IF you're 19-years-old, odds that you're a virgin are pretty low. Even recent studies have indicated that's the average age of losing one's virginity.

So why is it that when actress Khushboo reacted to a poll on premarital sex by saying, "No educated man will expect the woman he marries to be a virgin," and director Suhasini Manirathnam supported her views, some groups went berserk?

So in this modern world does being virgin really matters? Or it is of no relaevance whether one has slept with someone else before mairrage?

Agreed. Individual choice.

However......althou has never been an issue, when I had the pleasure of being the first to a particular lady in my past, I felt I was being honoured. It really felt like I had been given a beautiful gift.

But it still remains a very personal and individual decision of the woman.

Sort of to be or not to be?

Its not a world issue...
A personal issue and a choice of the individual and their choice alone. I actually know of many young kids around 18/19 both male and female that are abstaining from sex and choose to do so.

True here too apparently.

And tend to respect thier stand, agreeable or not.

It was and remains, a very personal choice. It is not a matter of wether it is relevant to today's society.

It is relevant to the individual.
