I wanted to come there for education & work ....I was told by friends living there ( Indians ) that there are plenty of jobs.

Lot's of green, part of my family is Irish, so I would scope out departure spots. I would try to avoid Dublin because I don't give a damn who's Protestant, or Catholic. My Quaker ancestors were kicked out of the UK, taxed double for many reasons and the Quakers accused some of my women of witchcraft for having money, speaking foreign languages and having sense.

I've got no use for religion, or religious fights. Ireland is lovely, I'm sure. I won't be visiting, any time soon.

It's on my list with Iraq, Iran, the Islamic world and other places I might not be welcomed. Sorry, I know the IRA has tamed over the years, but I'm in my 40's.

I am in my forties?/

No matter how many times I read this post (and believe me I have read and reread it so many times I know it by heart) I dont understand what the poster means or why Ireland is on their list with Iraq and Iran?

Many Americans are of an Irish ancestry in America. For such an obscure regarded culture...look at all the influence now and through their own character they are an indebted part of America. A good example of working themselves from the bottom up to provide for their future generation. ...Of course you have to include the English. ..but...after finding out that much of the English people were actually people that were driven out of their own and forced to change their name and identity for England.
Not all forgot their roots. I am an American but I can sense from my own family that the deep rooted ancestry stays in their blood. We can trace it back to the earliest of Ireland but they found England but the origin is Irish. They made people change their names(after they drove them out of their land) to sound more English, otherwise they would be subjected to penalty. They became Englishized but never forgot their roots and then they said we are getting the frock out of this smothering land...lol

Hi Vonney
Soon to visit you in about three weeks for some time..
I don't usually have any expectations but Ireland presents itself to me as lush greener than green countryside, colours so rich in tapestry, friendly faces, lots of country roads..and charm, cosy inns and pubs and history so deep, impossible to not smile.

Yes, I'm also in my 40's so still have the memories of conflicts and violence that always seemed to be on the news every night.

To be honest, I thought that was Belfast and surrounding areas, not Dublin. But, I could be wrong...
