I always liked shopping in Belfast more than Dublin, Dublin always seemed to be dark and grey when ever I was there, I found the giants causeway a disappointment the photos always made it look huge!! Loved Bushmills :D can't beat a nice Jamesons Gold Reserve or a nice black bush, fnarr fnarr :D

Cant remember which of the 2 large outdoor museums I liked the best, I think it was the American Folk Park? is the that one with all the reconstructions? quite moving in places!!

LOVED all round Galway and the connemara, could of happily stayed in Clifden a few more days!! and Donegal is WOW as well, specially up Slieve League, second highest sea cliffs in europe! not a fun drive up the edge tho rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Lot's of green, part of my family is Irish, so I would scope out departure spots. I would try to avoid Dublin because I don't give a damn who's Protestant, or Catholic. My Quaker ancestors were kicked out of the UK, taxed double for many reasons and the Quakers accused some of my women of witchcraft for having money, speaking foreign languages and having sense.

I've got no use for religion, or religious fights. Ireland is lovely, I'm sure. I won't be visiting, any time soon.

It's on my list with Iraq, Iran, the Islamic world and other places I might not be welcomed. Sorry, I know the IRA has tamed over the years, but I'm in my 40's.

Do you not know about the good friday peace agreement, that celebrated its 10th anniversary this week in Belfast....Bill Clinton US president at the time with Tony Blair was in power in London too and Bertie Aherne our taoiseach, have succeeded to get all parties to put down arms.....it took a while but peace has been achieved. By the way i am in my 40's too and Dublin did not suffer the kind of troubles our northern friends did....hug

When i first visited Ireland i was amazed how many
people waved at me as i drove by, especially in the
south and around the west coast.
I might add that at the time i was driving on English
no. plates.

I am over fifty now, and yes, my country having been so closely affiliated to British life, having been a colony up to late sixties, I lived the Irish situation hands on.

It was at the time somewhat painful to experience such tragic circumstances in an otherwise civilised land so close to home.

But I am also somehow proud, even inf not Irish, that good common political sense prevailed. It is a healthy sign of maturity for any society to witness the laying down of arms and having violence being replaced by conference tables.

That is the only future we can all hope for.

So in that respect, well done to all the Irish.

Hip Hip......

peace

Hi Vonney and the rest of you of course

Thats kinda true..... its combarible to other countries with similar reputations in the fact that the Irish are extremely sociable and chatty... cant shut us up (most of us.. not to over generalise)... so the few drinks is more a part of that..

I even notice with Irish kids.. they are so vivacious and chatty... I notice it on the bus.. if you see other nationality's children (again just a generalisation).. they are always very calm and well behaved, sitting in their chair quietly.... Irish children... will chat away to the driver... and to strangers... bombard their mother with questions.. jump on the chair and wave.... its a sight to behold really Irish children tend to be so full of beans(in a nice way smile).. I wonder sometimes is it just in our blood.... this vivaciousness... cheers shamrock
