Bush's, Cheney's tax returns...BS!

Posted: Apr 12, 2008, 2:52 AM CST
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President and Mrs. George W. Bush reported taxable income of $719, 274 for the tax year 2007 and paid $221,635 in federal income taxes, the White House said Friday.

The White House opened the door to Bush not attending the Olympic opening ceremonies this summer.

They contributed a total of $165,660 to churches and charitable organizations.

Some of the donations went to the following: the Crawford, Texas, Volunteer Fire Department, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Malaria No More Fund, Martha's Table and a St. John's Church, most likely St. John's Episcopal Church in the District of Columbia, where the Bushes sometimes attend services.

Vice President Cheney and his wife earned $2,528,068, the White House said, and owe taxes of $602,651.

The Cheneys paid $466,165 in taxes through withholding and estimated tax payments, and will pay the remaining $136,486 upon filing their tax return.

Bush's income included salary earned as president and investment income from the trusts in which his and his wife's assets are held.

The tax return also reports a $150,000 advance received by Laura Bush for the children's book she co-authored with daughter Jenna.

Laura Bush donated all net proceeds from the advance to Teach for America and the New Teacher Project, the White House statement said.

Cheney's income included his government salary of $212, 208 and a pension of $32,500 from Union Pacific Corporation, of which he is a former director.

His wife, Lynne, earned a salary from the American Enterprise Institute, a think-tank, and reported book royalty income and a pension of $32,000 from Reader's Digest, of which she formerly was a director.

She listed her occupation as "writer." Cheney listed his as "vice president."

The Cheneys donated $166,547 to charity last year, the White House said, bringing their total charitable contributions during his vice presidency to just under $8 million.

It may be true technically but what investments sre secreted away in other family members names. How much is he to inheret by his father's business dealings in the Middle East that has been going on forever? Call me paranoid but how much has he been able to cover uo by his secret meetings he holds try and true to be his privelige. Look at his family members a bit and that is yet another question. I say they are full of bullshit and all this is about is trying to sway the people to vote Republican... Call me paranoid but I thought the same thing when they lowered gas prices and had terror alerts and showed Bin Laden tapes at crucial times and they NEVER say anything specific to indicate them genuine.

Well i too agree that all these donations to charitable institutions are more of publicity gimmicks to attract attention to wards them and divert the attention of masses form core problems of high unemployment , rising food and gas prices and dearer education. It is a practice followed everywhere by shrewd politicians- All rascals are the same in the world. They are all into the bussiness not to serve the people but to gain a maximum leverage of their influential position.

Another member reminded me of Scud missiles fired on Navy ships during Bush, Seniors admin. Those attacks were successful. Why would terrorists stop successful attacks, during Clinton's admin? Were they not paid?

I think the Republicans should be investigated for more than torture at Guantanamo. They should be investigated for payouts and treasonous actions. I think these bastards funded part of 9/11.

The Republicans are trying to say Clinton's admin knew everything, Bush was elected in 2000. If 9/11 was known a year earlier, why didn't Bush's people stop it?

How stupid do the Republicans think the people are?

Jaybus! Do some simple homework and match dates!
