I have been in a weekend relationship for 10yrs and believe me, in the end it really gets too much!!

We arrived at an impass whereby i wanted her to move to the Netherlands and she wanted to stay in Belgium so really, love has to be the deciding factor!!

Its a shame it didnt work in the end but at least we tried - and so i would say to anyone wanting a long distance relationship to think about the complications first but certainly, follow your heart in the end!!

Its worth it!

cheers

Good advice, I always think of the complications first... If I'm smitten with someone from far away, I think realistically we could possibly meet even if it meant going without food for a year or getting into debt to fund it. But, then I think of all the what if's ... such as what if we fell madly in lustfull love and didn't get to see each other for months or years. Or what if he wanted me to go live there and how I'd cope with being in a different country to my son crying and my friends crying Maybe, my thoughts on this will change in time though dunno

I find myself quite smitten by a lass in New Zealand, I am Alaskan. Very large distance with respect to miles and there is also a quirky and sometimes down right devastating language gap/barrier. What to do? This lady is beautiful, wonderful and scary. Those who have the know please speak. I won't throw vegetables at the dumb stuff, promise.

You're complaining of distance? giggle I will not date men from here. We bore each other to death yawn (cultural differences and all), and i do not intend to settle down and live here, later in life.

I believe everyone knows the answer to what it is they SHOULD do about romancing someone they care about. The only things to consider are your fears areound financial, social and environmental issues and those things no one can help you with. Wish you all the luck in the world with your decisions though.

Yes, distance can be an issue and it does suck. There are a few people here I would like to meet but I can't just drive over for a coffee whenever I feel like it.laugh

This thread sheds some bright light on the unsexy downside with CS....the women I am interested in are not even remotely close to where I live....none of which are Swedish....hopefully in the future teleportation will be as common as the internet....that would surely elevate the realistic potential for CS...soooo I guess I am officially here only for the forums and pen pals....
