Sense of irony is a major plus Independent thinker and termed a "character" is fabulous.

If he's an engineer for years, while maintaining low-key character, that's great, to me.

I am sure that there are such pople and I can just dream to become like them. As Dwight Eisenhower said the great man have to possess qualities like vision, courage, understanding, the power of articulation and profundity of character…

Honest, humble,just and wise.

Also optimistic and ethical, have hope for the future.

Other quality of a great man is integrityPPl who have this quality ar telling themselves the truth and honestly are telling the truth to other people.A man of integrity is this man who is doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching.

Or even if someone is watching intently, with intrepretations strictly of their own.

Integrity is a beautiful quality. I comes with confidence and trust. Something like having someone call you from the other side of the world....

A great person, is one who constantly tells us, how great they are.

Somebody who does not take anything personal.
Somebody who fulfills his/her destiny and dreams in an unselfish way.

The power of articulation is other quality of the great person Having the power of articulation means that you have perfect bridge between your thoughts and your speech. This is a unique quality and using it you can convince the people around you that you are right.

The profundity of character is such quality that is very hard to be noticed in someones character.If only you know somebody very well you can say that he or she possesses that quality. If you find that quality in someone this is great because he or she will be great friend or more than friend.

My suggestion is someone who has something truely remarkable to contribute to science, society, or healthcare.

I don't put either artists or writers in the same bracket as opinions are subjective.

An example of this would be people thinking say the art of Damien Hurst is wonderful, where as i would call it absolute crap.A mother cow and calf cut in half and put in a tank of formaldihide isnt art.

Likewise literature, some people love the published works of all manner of authors who actually use a ghostwriter in the first place.

There is no accounting for taste, thus "Great" i reseve to people like Mr Tessler/Openheimmer/Einstein/Edward Teller as well as the ones i cant list as probably most people wouldn't have even heard of them.

I might give musicians a break in that but its again too subjective and a matter of taste.

And one might allow that bridge.
