LOL , looked it up and found:
DENNIS m English, French, German
Variant of DENIS
DENIS m French, Russian, English, German
Medieval form of DIONYSIUS.
Dionysus or Dionysos (in Greek, ?????s?? or ?????s??; associated with Roman Liber), is the god of wine
The Graeco-Roman name Dionysius, deriving from the name of the Thracian god Dionysus, was exceedingly common, and many ancient people, famous and otherwise, bore it. It remains a common name today in the form Dennis (Denys, Denis, Denise).
Dennis, its odd that also my birthstone is amethist, a stone associated with the god of wine. ( an amulet of amethist is said to keep one sober, wile consuming wine.
