I don't get nearly enough of them....

i find this to be iteresting and also something i do not know about, yet. So, in india and pakistan it is still a custom to get married by arrangement?

now c'mon i'm not wearing baggy flowery trousers and a pillow case on my head for a bunch of smelly goats !!!

I do get them from the Asian region ( India , Pakistan , Iran at times ... etc ) and even from Australia , UK and US .. in case of latter 3 some have been outright nasty.

Out here , yes, its still predominantly an arranged marriage scenario. But mainly its the view of " e-dating " and the " west " which makes " some " people behave in embarassing ways. Some are really simple and genuine .. as in thats the best way they thought to approach sort of thing .. sweet.

So , i guess ultimately we land up using a lot of block options.

I blocked an entire region for convenience and people ( none of them i knew ) who tried to contact me got offended ... well .. what can you say

I get the impression that it is not a romantic concept for them certainly... I mean this guy (the nice one)thought.. ok.. I have got a good job.. good money.. this girl is going to think this is a great idea!!!.. it seems a bit like a transaction of convenience.. yes an arrangement... I don't think there is anything 'wrong' with it per se... alot of these marriages work.. and look at our side of the planet.. a mess .. just not for me.. sometimes I do wish it were that easy though....

Oh hell, the knuckle draggers crawl out from under their rocks every once in a while & want to stretch their little .. er, ummm... ..leeegs, yeah legs that's it.

I cannot demonise something that is part of a culture. After all, it is how my grandparents got married and kind of how my parents did. It might be an idea of the past, but what i wanted to ask is if this is done with the consent of the girl that is about to be wed?

That is the most importand thing to me, because from there on, each one can have his own views on this.

Also, it seems that this is a subject where western and eastern cultures kinda clash; and it is perhaps because this is a *western* site (can be classified as such, at least on the forums) that such approaches / behaviours are laughed upon and condemned
