I have said before that my granddaughter is half white and black. She has the african hair and we are having trouble keeping the fuzzes off it. No matter what we do they just cover her head. Have tried special spray for her hair, also have put baby oil in it. Nothing works. Can anyone give me some advice.
Just let it go dread. Dreadlocks are absolutely beautiful and allow for freedom from harmful chemicals and unnecessary fussing. Don't make a square peg fit in a round hole, just let life be whatever shape it wants to! Let her relish in her heritage rather than hide from it. Read the book Dreads. Curls are God's ribbon on top of a gift...peace

Baby oil-ver very bad

It's pure mineral oil which is nothing but petrolium.

Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, petrolium jelly are all derivatives of petrolium. When they come into contact with hair and skin, they behave like solvents. That is why when you use baby oil or vaseline on your skin, it feels softer.
The baby oil was drying out your granddaghters hair.

Use only natural ingredients. That is why people love using mayo, eggs, olive oil, grape seed oil, etc.

with natural ingredients, you will see positive results over time. hug

Get the CitriShine that you can get in a bottle or spray (NOT the shampoo and conditioner, though you can use them as well)...the clear stuff you put on your hair to give it super shine. Works wonders for the frizzies people of color can get wine It leaves their hair silky soft, not tacky, and so smooth!

The curlier the hair, the drier the hair. I have very curly hair but nothing like african hair, althought when my daughter had her hair chemically staightened, they used the same strength they would for african hair. Anyways, there are products that are specifically for her type of hair, they are pricey, but worth it. It is all about moisturizing and only comb through with fingers when it is damp and very conditioned. Just some ideas.

One of the foster kids has African curly hair, and there is special stuff you use. It is in a jar. grrr can not remember the name of it.

Olive oil was one solution for one family. If you go to hair salons where middle eastern and or African clients go, you should be able to find out what to use.
