Anyway.....I went to see Fantasia while doing LSD(acid). WOW!!! What a great movie!! But went to see it straight a few years later and it was boring!! Did Walt Disney do Acid???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

And sorry, classicrockgirl, but I must speak!!
"The Little Mermaid" which was my favourite Andersen fairy tale when I was little (and still is) was TOTALLY messed up by the Disney guys.
The story is an important spiritual analogy and they just made it into another one of their "give 'em what they want" happy happy ending things....

Sorry, I'm not being awkward just for the sake of it.
What the Disney people do with stories that don't belong to them has upset me for a very long time now.... hug

Hey we all should

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
Old Mother Nature's recipes
That brings the bare necessities of life

Wherever I wander, wherever I roam
I couldn't be fonder of my big home
The bees are buzzin' in the tree
To make some honey just for me
When you look under the rocks and plants
And take a glance at the fancy ants
Then maybe try a few

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

Look for the bare necessities
The simple bare necessities
Forget about your worries and your strife
I mean the bare necessities
That's why a bear can rest at ease
With just the bare necessities of life

Now when you pick a pawpaw
Or a prickly pear
And you prick a raw paw
Next time beware
Don't pick the prickly pear by the paw
When you pick a pear
Try to use the claw
But you don't need to use the claw
When you pick a pear of the big pawpaw
Have I given you a clue ?

The bare necessities of life will come to you
They'll come to you!

So just try and relax, yeah cool it
Fall apart in my backyard
'Cause let me tell you something little britches
If you act like that bee acts, uh uh
You're working too hard

And don't spend your time lookin' around
For something you want that can't be found
When you find out you can live without it
And go along not thinkin' about it
I'll tell you something true

The bare necessities of life will come to you

The other side of the mountain and Old Yeller. I know that Disney is now known for their animation but as a child I grew up to the Disney show every sunday night and most of what they did was wild life stories... to this day those are my favorite Disney works.

Breezy I understand what you're saying about Disney changeing the fairy tales into happy endings... the little mermaid and the little match girl are two of my favorite fairy tales. I just accept the fact that the movie is never as good as the book and enjoy Disney for what it is... a fun romp with some good music. The thing is, Disney wasn't always this way, if you look at their earlier works; Bambi and Snowwhite, they were really true to the stories back then.

Good old Yeller god that was a story and yes i cried still would if i saw it now. Also THE Legend of Lobo which was about a wolf which i saw as a child and started my love a fair with wolves. Also the originally The Incredible Journey which was much better than the remake why they remade it i have no idea.

Disney should make more of these type films

I know!! wave
I love early Disney!!
And the weird thing is that little kids prefer it too. The action is much much slower but kids are mesmorised by Snow White and Bambi and Dumbo.... We used to have a video time at the end of the week for the infants at school and I was really surprised by their response....
All those "Madagascar" type kids movies just wind them up and they don't end up watching them.
Bambi and Dumbo grab them. Make them (and me) teary....
I think DofD mentioned Lion King - one of the few great, relatively new ones, imo.

Are you thinking of going to Barcelona at all??

And don't forget... Where the Red Fern Grows, the biggest tear jerker of all time! Fantastic movies!

I remember even as a kid there were kids whose parents didn't want them to see movies with sad endings... is the Disney change just a reflection of our society where everything is supposed to be happy endings and people don't want to deal with the reality of pain and loss or the sacrifice that is sometimes necessary when love is involved? Everything geared towards kids these days is highspeed, potty humor and silliness. I think a bit of this is fine but I do wish Disney would go back to what they did in earlier times.

Yes Breezy, I am hoping to get over to Barcelona... it will probably be just for one evening and a day, but it would be great to meet a few people from CS face to face!
