as long as there is humanity....nothing to do with race. It is human nature to compete. If the competition isn't about skin tone...even some blacks frown upon lighter skin tones or darker skin tones.
; they will compete over size. If not size, it will be about religion...ad nausem

You speak of hatred by whites for the blacks...do you not see how preduicial that statement is??? Do you not think that blacks hate whites as much??? Racism is a multi-faceted stone. For every George Wallace....there is an Al Sharpton!!

Yes I agree..hatred works both ways..I am just stating the situation I live in presently as it is white dominated area and Bastian does suffer sometimes..
I have been in the opposing ring and witnessed blatant prejudice against white people..I worked in the middle east and Africa so know first hand how difficult it can be...
I have learnt alot from both nations and cultures...some positive and sadly some not so..

It got me to thinking about interracial relationships and the problems that arise with exogamy...what are your thoughts and do you consider it acceptable to both yourself and your extended family??

Well, if the people who stare, haven't actually said anything, they could as well be staring at you. dunno

They could also be staring at hi fine self, which is a good thing. I personally, wouldn't assume the worst, if people stared at me, walking next to a white man. I'd be flattered. grin

All the best with the guy, though. thumbs up

applause thumbs up

I'm comfortable dating a white man and would not notice the staring, but if i did, i wouldn't assume the worst. I'm secure in that way. confused

Nice post.

No I dont find it acceptable I find it very sad indeed....I have no experience of this but when I started seeing my ex in the mid seventies in Glasgow we had the problem of being different religions...ie catholic/protestant....both families were not too happy about us getting together to say the least...however we married and had our family and we were both eventually accepted by each others families.... so these things can be overcome...and in my opinion it makes you a stronger and better person for the experience ....rolling eyes

Yeh, It's too common here for people to gaze, unless they are intrigued by how much the couple is inlove and showing public affection. Know how hard that can be hun..If I told the people of Northern Ireland that I was an atheist, a person would stand up and say... yes, but is it the God of the Catholics or the God of the Protestants in whom you don't believe?"

It is hard when religion comes into it...Not many can understand what difficulty the Irish are faced with..

Honestly though, some african men clearly admit to not liking the fact that, some black women date white men, as well.

I normally don't get that crap from Kenyan men though, it's always a guy from some other african country asking me 'why' i am dating a white man. Imagine that!!!!! D'oh!

I have a stalker from Cameroun and when i threatened to call the cops, he asked me why i would do that to a black man!!!! Lord, the reasoning is soooooooo infuriating! Like i should pledge my loyalty to all black people, regardless of character. barfing

It annoys the hell out of me but, i always know how to handle such primitive people.

Racism is when a person expects favors from you, just because of their similar skin colour.

Yep. thumbs up

If there's something i can't stand, it's that nonsense. sad flower

I am loyal to good people, not colour. I come from a family of 7 kids and none of them ask about skin colour, when i mention i like someone. After they find out his race, they don't even touch on it. This is why i do not understand, when an outsider thinks like this.

I am not used to it. I owe, no such favors.D'oh!

I understand what you are saying...I guess that what is attractive about Bastian..he rides on human diversity and goodness rather than colour..I think if a group of white people were in the company of a majority of dark skinned people the same...do me a favour would apply?? perhaps..

Most of the posts here are definitely borne out of convenience. confused

I am of the opinion though that if slavery never occurred, .. if white missionaries and explorers had come in true peace and had respected our culture and tradition and not imposed the western culture on Africa under the guise of civilization, .. racism might actually have an entirely different meaning.
This is something that stemmed from black people been eventually looked down upon as slaves after having been transported from Africa in conditions that even animals were not subjected to. The white man still has a problem with letting go of that mentality and an average Caucasian does not want to be seen rubbing shoulders with a black person. Even other races with lighter skin dissociate themselves as much as possible and act detached in unavoidable situations. Now isn't this enough to inspire a reverse effect ?
I will not justify black hatred towards whites either but it is not the root of this matter.

I have white friends and colleagues and we get along like peas in a pod but we always know deep within when we approach the lines, .. awkward and dis-oriented reflexes often gives that away easily.
Whether we like it or not, .. racism thrives and can never be erased, .. so I think it is always better to just shut the hell up and live your life to the full, .. fight it though, only if it stands in your way which it often doesn't when you get your priorities right.

It will be unfair if it is eventually concluded that Barrack Obama didn't win this elections due to racial prejudice, .. I would rather see it as the odds being against him and that he came as far as he could and did well enough, .. at least he made much more impact than General Collin Powell could ever dream to have made since he never got up from sitting on his butt.

Life is bubbly fun and I will readily date anyone as long as the feeling is mutual and if I get stared at by her folks, .. I would ask them if there is a problem .. (like staring can take a strand out of my hair).

Actually, I think one of the reasons that made it difficult to think about a future with that guy I was talking about, was the social issue.

I'm not by nature very active within my social circle and so they never got a chance to reject him.
He met friends of mine individually, and that was okay, I suppose.

He was far more active within his own community so I got to meet alot of his friends, relatives.....
The men were okay.... some of them even seemed to like me.
The women were pretty bad, rude, hell-bent on alienating me. I kept mostly out of their way.

I got on with that guy better than anyone I've met..... our spirits were somehow similar, I think.
Don't know if it was love or what, but now I come to think of it, a future with a family under those conditions would have been tricky, to say the least...........
