Good-night! good-night! as we so oft have said
Beneath this roof at midnight, in the days
That are no more, and shall no more return.
Thou hast but taken up thy lamp and gone to bed;
I stay a little longer, as one stays
To cover up the embers that still burn.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

My heart broke when I heard the news today, Paul had been on my mind alot but even more so the last few days. All my prayers and thoughts go to his family.
He always put a front on about how sick he was and was still planning his world trip and he even promised me a lend of his car for when he was gone, and his scuba lungs for when me n Nuala's breathing was bad.
He was always there for me, we spent many a night sitting talking into the wee hours putting the world to rights. Paul wasn't just a joker, he was one of the most intelligent men I have ever known, we often sat tlking about art, music , religion- everything really.
I know he will be missed by everyone who knew him and his mad sense of humour. I'll miss his jokes, the funny postcards he sent me but most of all i'll miss talking to him.
Love ya Paul (critch), you're out of your pain now angel angel angel

The family have been reading all the messages left for Paul. Just to quote what Gill has just said to me after reading them.

"It's really nice to know people thought so well of him. Cheekiness and banter right to the end. A brave man and he has my total respect. We will miss him so much."

The funeral will be this Friday, 2nd May, 9am at Rotherham Crematorium. The family have said, Paul's friends would be more than welcome to attend. If anyone would like to pay their last respects to Paul, let me know so I can pass the numbers on to Gill.

A sad loss. I've missed his humour here for a long time already but knew through a mutual friend how ill he was.
I was hoping he would make it here to Canada so I could have met the man I enjoyed joking around with on the forums.

I just got home a little while ago and have now just read this. It's a sad day indeed to know that Paul is no longer physically with us. H always had such a beautiful outlook on life, and I believe that is what he would want for us to look at rather than the heartache we feel right at this moment.

There's a beautiful poem that was written long ago and I believe that Paul would appreciate it....

To Those I Love - By Isla Paschal Richardson

If I should ever leave you whom I love
To go along the Silent Way,
Grieve not,
Nor speak of me with tears,
But laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there.

( I'd come - I'd come, could I but find a way!
But would not tears and grief be barriers? )
And when you hear a song
Or see a bird I loved,
Please do not let the thought of me be sad...
For I am loving you just as I always have...
You were so good to me!

There are so many things I wanted still to do -
So many things to say to you...
Remember that I did not fear...
It was Just leaving you that was so hard to face...
We cannot see Beyond...
But this I know:
I love you so -
'twas heaven here with you!

My condolences and prayers for Paul's family. Please know that Paul was a part of this family here on CS and I can only speak for myself but he will always be remembered as the brother I never got to meet, but I will always treasure in my heart.
