Best friends as partners for life ?

Posted: May 3, 2008, 4:42 PM CST
Do best friends or even close friends make the best partners for life ??

We aspire to develop that connection at multiple levels with the one we want to spend our lives with. Friendship gives to quite an extent the room for that conection to develop ...

...then ...

would you consider a friend for a choice of partner over someone who wasnt a friend or was a stranger to begin with ???

The thing is, at least for me, I don't do that cuz I'd rather have a friend for a zillion years than a lover for a short time...so many times we make that mistake, but in order to be great partners we have to be great friends...

My best friend has a penis.crying

laugh wave

All of my friends started out as strangers at one point, but have turned into so much more. Some will come and go, some are forever.
It would be nice to find that one that turns out to be my "best friend" and never leaves, only without the dangly bits.laugh

Makes me wonder ... friends you can relate to so easily cos there isnt the need to ... but when we are " looking" for that someone ... the feeling of a connection sometimes takes so long to come ...

Genuine friendship is so important to me.. it is the closest thing to family... I don't have a huge amount of friends but those that I do have I really treasure and would really put myself out for if necessity called... what I love about my friends most is that I can be myself with them... and they accept me warts and all...like my family... this afternoon I had a tiff with my good friend and flatmate John and by this evening we hugged and made up and were laughing about it... most of my friends have seen me being an ass... a fool... downright embarrasing or ridiculous... I commend them..I would have dumped me long ago.. laugh... to have THAT as a basis of a relationshiop methinks.. would be very precious indeed wine

thumbs up

Thats so true Zarah .. it needs sooo much more patience to let the other person travel the journey at his pace .....

I would give all for a relationship with just as much depth in it as love and passion to keep the two people together even if they are at the verge of war with each other every single day ... the basic feeling of unconditional love and an unspoken understanding of emotions ...

Pure bliss !!

Oo I would definitely prefer to have a partner who was my friend before anything else. .. dating and all then no.. I wouldn't be fussed.. but if it was a life thing.. then yeah.. Id like it to be someone who was my best buddy.

My buddy and I have always said that if one of us were the opposite sex.. we would get married.. haha.. we know each other so well.. and just laugh and laugh and laugh, and talk and talk and talk. (and we are both sick and twisted) laugh devil

I definately think that a life partner also has to be your best friend. He has to be the one you turn to for guidance, support and friendship. JMO wave

I would not want for a partner someone who was not my friend; it can get pretty lonely otherwise. uh oh!
