But if it is a birthmark or deformity...... then it cant be helped.
Ok, I'll give you that, some things you can change. But some you can't, some people are bigger than others no matter how they eat and exercise. Some things you can't change about yourself, and some things people may just not want to, cause they don't care what you think.

I have a hip replacement, I have a little limp and sometimes I don't walk perfectly. I've had customers at work judge me that I'm drunk when I stumble a bit. I can't help that. The people that know me that I work with know better. Sure it pissed me off when I first heard it, but I can't do anything about that, so why should I care what some judgmental ignoramus thinks?

Maybe I shouldn't judge when some kid has his pants hanging off his a$$, but that's just dumb, IMO. There's no reason to dress like a thug unless you want people to think you're a thug, so that's what I think. If you want me to think you're an upstanding citizen on first sight, then that's what you should dress like. Same with women who dress like whores, that must be what they want people to think, or they wouldn't dress that way.

I'll agree with one thing, some people should take better care of themselves. But there's a big difference between big and beautiful and fat and sloppy.

I think we dress for the attention that we think we require or deserve at the time in our lives or how we have been raised to believe we do.

a lady dressed up as a tart may feel that male attention in that way is really good and an achievement and she has attention. a priest daughter could be doing more men than the tart in a week but she dresses to suit her roll.

a guy in a suit dressed up for the occassion - respect, statue and class. he could be a total loser or con man.

honestly we judge out of just pure survival.... we want what is best for our survival that includes our mates for reproduction its fact.

I think it would be incorrect to say we never make some sort of initial assessment of others based on appearances, though surely a judgement as such would be based on the behaviour of others and their treatment of other people??

Clothes do not maketh the man...??!!

Good thread....!! thumbs up

I answered no but i know that its not easy to be so non-critical

In NL for rxample, women dress just like the men, in most cases.

That doesnt mesan though that they loose their femininity because of it although, they dont have the same kind of sensuality that women from the southern parts of europe seem to have.

cheers

I form my opinion by one's actions and reactions. If the are nice people, then who gives a flying fu** who they look or dress. I don't care how they express themselves when it comes to fashion or by what clothes they wear. I have had many conversations with people who were dressed like a homeless person, or were even homeless. There is always something to learn from them or anyone...regardless of how they dress or look.

My answer is what is inside is more important or no, but honesty is the most important feature I look for. What I think of as attractive may not be what others think is, so to each his own. There is someone out there for everyone. As for honesty (and I apologize for sounding critical) but I checked out your profile. In this thread you said you are a big person, yet your profile says average. If you honestly are a big person, then it should say so in your profile if you're striving for honesty yourself.

Well, yes, everybody has their opinions--it's how you express them and act on them that shows ugliness...refering to the post above, not yours

And the best thing is to just NOT express them when they are only going to cause negativity. Shipoker gave a perfect example. Just a snotty little shot. Me, if I had run across that dirty person I would either keep my mouth shut or offer them some deodorant or something to help them clean up, not just pop off.

lusciousmile "People will always judge others according to what they understand, at the given moment."
Wrong. Bitches and assholes judge, decent people wonder, and ask questions when they don't understand, realizing that they don't KNOW.
"I know i will keep away from drunks because my father had the problem once, that is how i deal with my pain....I do not have the capacity to exclude and sort out cause and means, i simply, stay away."
I fully understand exercising more caution around certain "types" (for lack of a better word). I know that with the growing racism and hostility amongst blacks in America, I don't care to interact with those who are already acting crabby or stupid.

Zell "I can usually work it out very quickly what someone is like going by their mannerisms, attitude they project and some of their facial features"
I urgently caution people against forming hard and fast opinions this way, because I know from experience that it is STUPID a lot of the time. E.g. lots of times I apparently look angry when I am thinking, even just trying to decide what is for supper LOL Too many times, idiots assumed I was mad, because they never even bothered to ask, and I was thinking, not talking LOL Didn't even know they were paying any attention to me until they started popping off, and then I WAS mad. And NO, I do not say sorry or show remorse for having people hauled off in aid cars if THEY started it.

No cause even if someone is overweight etc they still have feelings like everyone else and should be treated with the highest respect as we would give anyone else.

If you didn't judge people by their looks all the following people would be out of work:

Angelina Jolie

Mark Harmon

Brad Pitt

Britney

Tom Cruise

Brandy

well you get my point....we all judge people by their looks. whether we have the guts to admit it or not!!

you can't judge a book by it's cover, right?

well, i guess the cover will tell you at a glance what is on the inside.... it doesn't mean you have any idea what is actually inside, maybe that book is just not for you.

Appearance is not just a physical thing, it is how a person carries them self, how they act.

If they can't stand up because they have an eating problem, or they have a scars on their wrists, or give themselves tattoos with a coat hanger then I would only assume that there were some emotional problems that helped to create the physical person.

A person creates their own image. The body is a temple, you would not enter a temple if you thought it was going to collapse, or if it were on fire, or if it were filled with the too many people.

The same thing happens when you look at a person.... everyone has their own presumptions and ideals they assign to images.... it is how we learn.
