I think this is why 2 yr olds can have word recognition long before they can sound out words in spelling. My grand daughter "reads" by recognising words and not by spelling them, even tough she knows her alphabet and letter sounds.

If you can read this you have a strange mind too. Can you read this? Only 55 people out of 100 can.

I cannot believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The pheromonal power of the human mind, according to a research at Cambridge University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing huh? Yeah and I always thought spelling was important!
