In the old days, cave man hit cave woman on the head with his club, and they became mates for life.

Has today's courting process become to commercialised?

Valentines day is an example of this I think. Used to be able to send a card, now its flowers and dinner. But as long as she's happy, I'm happy.grin

I think courting is actually less of a big deal than it used to be--people today seem to be much more casual in how they get to know each other, less formal than the olden days. Women will always like flowers and being treated in a special way--it doesn't mean you have to spend a lot of money. If the woman you are interested in is that superficial, then maybe you should think again if she's the one for you. One of the sexiest and romantic things a guy ever did for me was leave little notes on the windshield of my car. We were at university and neither had much money. Whenever he saw my car on or near campus, he's write a little note to me. You don't have to spend money to be romantic or to court a woman. cheers

Sure it has become to commercial. They are brain washing everyone into rushing it all. When I was a teenager it was great fun! Like foreplay! So exciting. Now its like everyone is in such a rush to just do it. Then they find out they don't actually like each other and bang! The war is on.

Agreed, but I still think that the traditional acts of romance, or the non-superficial acts (ie placing notes) are not as valued as they once were, particularly with the younger generation.

I'm special!sticking out tongue

Oh, maybe that's not what you meant.rolling eyes

EVERYTHING has become way too commercialised. You can't leave your home without some sort of advertising in your face at every turn. It's not just dating. Here in North America sex sells better than anything else and you see it even in advertising for windshield wipers and cleaning products.D'oh!
I have to admit someone cleaning my house for me in a cute little French maids outfit would be very appealinggrin but don't see how my floors are going to be any cleaner just because I'm aroused?laugh

The point is that there is nothing as sacred to some as the almighty dollar and nothing is safe from exploitation as far as aquiring said dollar.
