Myanmar and China

Posted: May 8, 2008, 10:52 PM CST
Why are we So complacent about Myanmar and China and this cyclone disaster. We marvel in disbelief that they will not let anyone come in and help even though we were well aware of their opppression by China. Has anyone happened to think that this power oever this nation dominated by China was eliminated because of this cyclone? Natural genocide in a way???

We empower China everyday by buying their CRAP and being a Walmart of a country. Everyday we buy from them we empower them and weaken our own own economy. Jeez! I know J Edgar Hoover was a nutjob but their was some logic there. Russia was communist, wasn't it?

Man oh Man!! We do take for granted alot of things don't we? Even I am old enough to remember the self reliance America used to have. Being from a blue collar. middle class family and having factory jobs, I realize the backbone of America. Any successful couontry has it's real thanks to the people who actually DO break their backs for a living!

LMAO>>rolling on the floor laughing I got o9ff subject but... Why isn't the world qhestioning why China..(a major trader with and normally they would want to be on our good side for trade seems to be without worry?) If we stopped trade with them today we would leave something for them to think about. I dunno if you could ever trust anyway but they really do depend on this hemisphere to survive..

That is not thre point Mastic. Plenty of help for these people and no one will let them in to help and they risk more death. China has been recently in the news for being really constrictive. Is this an attempt to committ genocide?

It is the way they are, we can't save the world, I feel bad for the suffering but it's not our country and we are not welcome by their gov't.

Remeber the "Should Bush Boycott China Olympic stuff?" Same area..Why? A country so close, prosperious helping these people next door? Why are they so afraid? we have been hearing on the news lately hoe China is so oppressive to these people. We enrich China and in return they supplement their military and loan us money so they can own a part of America unless we pay them back. The way we are going is everybody else in the world will own us. I guess I am just zzzzzzzzzz..lolblushing grin

I agree! We need to take care of our own first. This is not just an American effort. The whole world is trying to help and no one will let them in. China has been reported recently as being oppressive to the area even before the cyclone. The whole world is trying to help and they won't let people in.

All I am saying is..where is China if they are a good neighbor? and.....are they behind not being to help?

This hemisphere of the world is enriching China. They have repressed their neighbor who has a right to be individual and we let them send us our goods..Not all safe mind you and keep on doing it and when we do that we make ourselves more powerless and give them even more power.

yes! Midship... If we think back on our countries when they were at their most prosperous, it was when we were producing more of our own products...That is what I remember at least.

I didn't get into this story for quite a while. It reminded me of Katrina. Then I realized that Myanmar was practically Burma and that has been in the news. I coudldn't help but put two and two together and wonder why they just don't say it is burma..?lol

Anything electronic now has a 3-5 year life span. It is cheaper to replace an appliance these days than repair it.

It plays to a cheap labour market for big companies.

Usually..the stuff that is imported is CRAP! and breaks! They design stuff to break so they can continue production.

All I am saying is I would see America take back some if it's manufacturing jobs. The stuff we have always stakes our reputation and defense contracts, Pharaceuticals stay here!!!!. Sheez!.. I'd would rather give Mexicans jobs south of the border to make toys and such instead of empowering a country like China who sends CRAP here and we do nothing and is trying to undermine our security and coincidentally is beefing up their military arsenal. Are we blind?confused

I guess being "Walmart" to the world is more important?? We lose our jobs and create CRAP jobs so we can sell the worlds goods at a cheap price..

Yeah but....I would rather spend a little more money to buy something of quality that will last. LOL..people talk about the environment. Wouldn't the environment be better off if they made stuff to last instead of break down and then you'd have alot less junk?

I agree with you completely. We, the West, are behaving in a very complacent way about this and other behavior of the Chinese government. Acceptance, hypocracy--these are earlier threads here in which most people replied that they never do it! What BS--everybody is doing it: if we acted on what we believe in, we would not be hypocritical and we would not accept the status quo. Why people are not protesting, governments, the UN, individuals, about China not allowing aid to these people is something I don't get either. Instead, we all sit complacently in front of our televisions accepting the situation and worrying about the price of oil because it may make the celery cost a few cents more.
