I guess that would depend on what you intend on using it for. For a light truck I'd go with Toyota.
For a bigger truck I'd go with Hino, which is owned by Toyota.
For even bigger trucks I'd go with Mann, but they're not available in North America.

I still don't understand why it is that Australia gets to have a Hino hybrid mid size commercial truck and we don't. Why is it that some of the European trucks aren't allowed onto the continent.confused

I want a Hino hybrid 4x4love

Not at all. It's probably the best deal you can get. Pricewise it's in the same ball park as the big three weenies and the resale value is incredible comparatively. Toyotas generally have less breakdowns and parts are no more expensive than they are for domestics.
The power and mileage combo in the Tundra beats all the others by quite a bit too, especially towing a trailer.

Yep, something stinks and it's going to have to come to an end sooner or later. Can't protect a BS economy forever.

Oh well, I'm trying to import an older Toyota or Hino from Japan. It'll be right hand drive but that doesn't bother me. I've driven RHD vehicles here before.

Yes, Kid is right, the Toyota Tundra is probably the most economical, maintenance free AND rated one of the SAFEST pickups on the market. Has steel bumpers, not plastic! Less roll-overs too!thumbs up thumbs up

Well heck. I own an '85 Ramcharger with 383,000 miles on it. Granted, it only gets 11 mpg, but that's 11mpg uphill, upwind, cross country, pulling a trailer or hub deep in mud... She just keeps on goin' and goin'! thumbs up

Plus, two years ago I hit a deer at 75 mph and all it did was crinkle the bumper a little bit and fix the dash lights that had quit working 6 months earlier. laugh thumbs up

I have an '86 Ford F350 with a later 7.3 diesel w/ an aftermarket turbo. Decent mileage/mediocre power for the size of truck but the expense of keeping it on the road is getting to be too much. International didn't have many problems with their version of that engine but once Ford got their hands on it they made a mess.
Cracked cylinder heads are a very common problem and that's why mine is parked at the moment. Finding good heads is getting difficult and expensive.
The Asian and European diesels rarely have these sorts of problems and make a half million plus miles virtually trouble free and get better fuel mileage.
What's wrong with this picture?confused

I won't even get into the GM 6.2 or 6.5 or the Ford 6 litre diesels. What a joke!rolling eyes
