I thought I met the love of my life, but it didn't work out. People have told me she wasn't the one for you.

They also said "it will happen for you" I have even dispensed that advice myself to others who have been looking and had no success.

Do you believe there is someone for everyone? Do you think it "will happen" for everyone who is looking for love? Maybe there are some people on this Earth who are destined to be alone all their life, even though they do not want to be. Do you believe that could be true?

My question was not for me personally, but an observation. We all hear the phrase, it will happen for you. I was looking for opinions about the statement itself.

My personal viewpoint agreed with Gangel for a long time. But now, I am starting to have doubts, and maybe some people were destined to be alone.

I know there is someone for everyone...the waiting is the hardest part, (like the song)but it will happen. If you truly believe you are beat, than you are,,,if you truly believe you will win, you will. Now all I have do is to take my own advice. Hang in there, never give up.

not so sure Ken, I guess it's the effort that you put into it, partially. I don't believe that there is just one match for each of us. Maybe by not placing so much emphasis on finding "thee one", someone will sneak up on you...

I feel that there are people that are destined to be alone. I personally have not had success in relationships. I keep picking men that have to cheat and lie. After years of this and after changing the type of man that I am with it has still happened. So to answer your question Ken, yes I feel that I am destined to be alone, even though I don't want to be.

I do think some people are destined to be alone, just because they don't want or don't know how to give of themselves to another in a relationship. But you Ken, are not one of those. When you are ready, she will appear. Maybe you're just not ready yet, there may still be something you need to learn or get over from the last relationship. You'll get there.

no...I don't believe there is someone for everyone. Gave up on that fantasy decades ago. What we must do is mold ourselves and at the same time mold that person into what is acceptable to each other and take it from there....JMO of course

I believe that there are many people that we are compatible with and go well with. It sucks when relationships are over, but each one teaches us something. Each experience inriches our lives in some way or another. Some people will probably stay alone. Most likely though most people who want/need somebody will find them. There are so many people out there looking for someone else the odds are in their favor.

We all come into this life with a different set of lessons. I think the people who come into our lives are all apart of that. So maybe some of us are meant to spend life with one person for a very long time while others are meant to spend shorter spans of time with several people. Some people also need the challenge of standing on their own two feet, but I would suspect that if you're not happy on your own then most likely your not one of those people and most likely you won't end up alone forever.
