I just realized how OC I am. While making Jello, I measured exactly as the package said. Do you, when you cook, measure spices and such, or just go by instinct??

What did you think this was about, anyway????

It depends on what I'm making... sometimes I measure, sometimes not.

I use simple measurement s for dry ingredients, such as a palm fulls, pinches, and such...it works well...but for wet ingredients, I usually measure...things turn out better that way, especially when baking. laugh

nope I never measure, I am a natural cook, I feel funny when I do measure as I have tried it before and it seems so unnatural.

As for the underlying question, yes I do measure, but it's already too late at that pointrolling on the floor laughing sticking out tongue rolling on the floor laughing

Some things I measure and do according to the recipe. Some things I use a bit of flair and just wing it.

When Im cooking something Ive never made before and I see it in a recippe book, I measure exactly just to be sure it turns out ok. If I decide to make it again, I will make changes by instinct just to suit my taste. That being said, if its something I make a lot of, I NEVER measure...

I ad lib a lot.

I have always thought about opening my own restaurant but I don't want to work that hard. Sometimes I substitute ingredients.

I hardly ever measure anything exact unless I am cooking a really big meal and then I try to be more exact so I don't have to make additional trips to the store.

No.... for the most part, the dishes that I do I have down to a fine art and I simply go by eye, or taste, a combination of the two. Always seems to work.

Only with, say, profiteroles, as I don't have a sweet tooth and, therefore, in a sense, my heart's not totally in it.... I need to measure. They still come out fab though, if I say so myself.....

Your last question.... not sure I understand, Ship?? grin

They are choux pastry buns..... they puff up in the oven and you fill them with whipped cream and cover them in chocolate sauce. Like chocolate eclairs only choc eclairs are torpedo shaped and profiteroles are ball shaped... you MUST have them over there, surely??

If you want me to send you the recipe, I am more than happy, love.... my recipe is a particular easy one to do and yet they are very impressive!! Serve at a dinner party for dessert and everyone thinks you are a gastronome!!

It all depends on what it is I'm making.

Sometimes I measure spices and sometimes I don't. I go by instinct.
