In certain "must-emergency" situations, YES! Your damn right it is okay to pretend if you really need to accomplish a certain agenda, get capital for a certain business or personal endeavor, or to gain access to something that would really make life easier with a certain project.

It surely is not okay to pretend to make new friends or get closer to somebody you may fancy, cause it will just blow up in your face down the road. And the person who will be most angry will be you...for lying to yourself.

Agree with you on this ............. we all "pretend" at moments to get what we want or what's best for us; but there is a big difference in living your entire life this way. We learn to be nice or cooperate to reach our goal and I think that's something that we learn from childhood (how to at least try to get our own way).

What's the point in pretending to be someone you're not just to get other people to like you? If it works and they like you, then they don't really like you, if you're not being you, they like someone you're not. And most people will see through it, and then they won't like you or who you're pretending to be. You have to be really good to pull something like this off for any length of time, and you get so good at pretending to be someone you're not that you're not you anymore. And then who are you?
dunno

As many others have stated previously, why not be yourself and allow them to like what you have to offer.

To pretend is a lie......
In the long run truth is better.......
If I can't trust someone with the little things, how will I ever trust them
with the big stuff. Truth is so important........and what do you gain by a lie.

why pretend? You would eventually have to be yourself. It is much easier to be honest than to try to maintain a lie.

If someone does not like who you really are, why would you want them in the first place. hug

It's funny.......everybody says don't pretend, but how many times do we pretend to be nice to people in our everyday lives, when deep down.......we don't give a s.hit about them.
