the best that could happen to this country is that gas prices will jump at least to $20.oo galon overnight in the next few weeks
that might be a wake up call to the PEOPLE, and hopefully they will stop beliving all the nonsence politicians says

Brazil a huge country almos as big (size and poluplation) of the states, with less oil than the states, is oil independant, and it also exports oil
cars run on ethanol, made of sugar cane

Israel, and Brazil have their water heaters using solar energy

Europe, South America use public transportation

while here it needs a law to make automanufactures to imrpuve the milage of cars,in the earliers 80 i owned a car that was making almost 40 miles per galon (38 to be exact) that car was manufactured by Ford, and looked excactly as the taurus (when they are sold abroad they have a diferent model name)

may be with $40.oo dolar per galon , the PEOPLE will take things in their own hands and kick out those politicians that think what is better for the big corporations and choose lawmakers that will think what is better for the PEOPLE

People here on the back roads of Maine drive ATVs.

Of course, many of the locals don't have driver's licenses, so the ATV is the vehicle of necessity laugh

Snowmobiles are everywhere in the winter.

Regular gas here today is $3.89 a gallon.

you are correct, Brazil only imports %3 of their oil. There economy as well as india' and chinas are topping and we will wake up soon enough, in my opinion we are in a depression and have skipped recession, back in '99 i remember greenspan comming on and making the statement that we were in a recession then not two weeks later he comes on and atones for what he had said, wonder what or who changed his mind from his first statementhmmm As it is i see civil uprising of some sorts because the things that must be made to change in order to make this price work is a very large scaled "get our asses in shape and quickly" kind of situation then nothing but bad breeds, there has to be a formula for everything in order for an answer to come forth, a true one that is, you cannot have a bunch of factors and not know where to put them and make the answer, there HAS to be an order, not politicians saying 'well we are looking into the matter' bullcrap do something about it...........or the people will, this is only my opinion now my head hurtsD'oh!

Because of the gas prices(fuel) American Airlines is charging 15 bucks for the first piece of carry on luggage , from what I understand airlines charge for the second carry on, but no ,AA has to start charging for the first...they will all catch on soon, by this time next year it will be 45 dollars for the first carry on, just a wild guess professor

It was a policy perhaps law in the eightys/early ninedys that cars had to get at least 40 miles per gallon by x date. That was overturned when bush was elected,,,,and/or put into office. Some cars were in production at that time that were released to the public. My 98 nisson altima got 40 mpg even after seven years of tourture from my driving.

( The Taurus also goes by the name of sable and somthing else...these may be copycats or subsitys of ford)

The technology is out there if the car companys want to get good gas mileage. There is a lot of technology on hybrid and specificaly battery power (in the past it has been convient for some companys to sit on advancements in battery discoverys, however now the knowledge is valuable).

Um,,, History recorded the tea party as a rebelious statement from the colonist but in reality it was the colonist tea suppliers that organised the party, their effort was to justify higher prices(by lack of supply) and presure the king to lower the tax. Kinda like oil, the flow is restricted the proffit soars.

The spin was to blame it on the indians.

My gas tank is empty,,,, I believe that it is my duty as a inhabitant of this planet to make certain sacrifices and allow the distrubution of this sacrificed gasoline to be deposited there so it will have the least enviormental impact and carbon footprint for our children and theirs. To make this sacrifice is a small thing compared to the big picture.

Dennis ( Some day the tax on tea will be will be fair )

seriously folks, u guys in the states have it easy. you're paying the same for a gallon as we are for a LITRE!! the knock on effects of the price hike is evident everywhere. grocery bills are up by an average 15 pounds (approx 30 dollars) and every other food/retail outlet is hiking up their prices. the cost of living (if you drive) has risen by an average 80 pounds (approx 160 dollars) per week!!! there are people a lot worse off than me and i despair for them, i really do.

See ,,,that is the problem with the metric system ( ok ya sillyness on my part , there have been fuel cost problem's for years in Europe,,,I can imagine it has not gotten better recently )

Where I work the uppermanagement wines about their cost, though the rising cost is incorperated in the markup. The idiots do not realise that if the cost doubles the profit triples. However my paycheck is the same,,,,
