Its nice to hear from someone that reasures me that the general public is not a bunch of stupid idiots, that the gas companys think that we are.

The only practical way of reducing gasoline prices is through the
straightforward means of buying less gasoline, not through a simple and painless scheme of just shifting where we buy it. The inconvenience of driving less is a hardship too many people apparently aren't willing to endure, however.

Don't you think the oil companies know this?

they know it
that is the reazon than on hollidays gas prices ae increased

but this is only in this country

other countries, have beter public transportation, the goverment invest in public transportation, oil companies keep their gas price low

it is the PEOPLE to decide, if they let the goverment to think what is best for their own pocket (they collect presents fomr the lobbist, and as gas prices increase, they colect more taxes, so they can increase their own salary) or the PEOPLE will choose a gocerment that will thing the best for the PEOPLE

People will have to feed their children and when most have to pay almost three times the amount of min. wage that is when we will have civil disorder, count on it, i have seen fear in peoples eyes when the gas went up due to katrina, now look where we are, five years they plan on giving us to reach the price, well five years is still not enough time to have this country adjust to what they are proposing, yes civil disorder is all i can see happening, thefts, robberies, it is scary.uh oh!

Well I am doing my part in not buying gas. I know it's not easy for everyone because they have really long commutes.
But I have started to walk to work. Or we car pool. Depends on the time of day and the weather. I think there are a lot of ways that we could all work to drive the price down, somethings work better for some and not others. but If everyone found something they could do might help, until someone can come up with a sure way.

Afriend of mine bought an electric scooter she rides to work.

If the prices keep going up at the rate they are now, it wont be long and the cost of gas will be more then the min. wage.
We just voted on our new contracts. we got a 3% raise that we will get once a year for the next 3 years. But inflation has risin and i still rising by much higher rates and a lot faster then once a year!

I do know of another valid insentive for people to try and not use gas, The savings is huge! I in just one month have saved at least $350.00 I came up with this figure as the money I had spent in one month on gas, and by not driving my car I did not have to put one cent in it.
We not ony car pool to work, but we are all good friends, so when we have to go for groceries and such we do that together as well. Tell me is there anyone who would not like to have an extra $350.00 in there pocket?

You are not the only one I have heard say this. I really belive that if we don't do something it is not going to leave anyone much choice. I hate to see it get to that point. But it cant be just a part of the people trying to make a difference and the other part sitting back waiting for results. we all have to do something to help.

It's going to get to the point where people wont be able to afford to work. Gas is the biggest problem now, but on top of that problem, It seems they are finding ways to add tax after tax on everything as well. Everythihng is getting to the point where an avg. person can not afford the nesasary things let alone anything extra.
I know of one girl, Who is staying with an abusive husband, because she needs his income along with hers so that she can keep a roof over her kids head, and food for them. And she works 72 hours a week. When she tried going for government help so she could get herself out of that situation, she was told she makes to much! But yet she can't make enough to survive on her own. Day care is up, food is up, clothing is up, Medical is up, utilities and housing costs are up as well!

You are correct, everything has gone up and did you notice the portions are smaller? oz/lbs. wise? like we don't notice, hello. There was a guy i saw at the store the other day come driving up in a pu truck, had in shoe polish on the side of his windows, make a diff in gas prices going up so i asked him what he meant and intended to get across with the message, he went on and on and on with all of these good ideas, and i asked him if he had been asked a lot about that message by other people and he said yes he had, now that word is out will it take effect? i think i am a pessimist in this and i do so hate being that way it does not sit well with me, but the fact is is we as americans have the mentality of thinking "well somebody else will do it or somebody else is doing it so it won't hurt if i don't participate" but it does, we have all put ourselves in this sit and it will take all of us to get us out, it is a big undertaking but the government has been given the opportunity to run the joint and look at where that got us all, so people will have to fix people, the government is not going to.After all this is OUR country not theirs, they only run it, i don't see them suffering the everyday ordinary lives of us.So yes civil is in the air, you can already see it with our depression comming on, pray pray pray.

Yep everyone has to do there part. I read above that it could be worse, yes it could! but if we dont do something to combat it, not only could it be worse but it will be worse.
I sometimes think that you will never get everyone or even the majority of people to do anything until it effects there way of living.
One family who makes an income in the upper 100.000 may complain a little that things are getting harder. While another family who makes under 25,000 has either already lost, or is loosing everything. The bankruptcy, forclosures, and repos are at an all time high. Yep it could be worse and it will get a lot worse if we dont do something.
The domino effect will reach us all eventually, People will not be able to buy or go to work, then it will venture up buisness's will be forced out, putting even more people out of work. and closing more buisness's. and more job loss. there are a lot of people who can not afford to work right now! between the cost of gas, and day care. I know one girl who has one son, she had to quit work because it saved them more then she brought home, by not paying daycare or the added money for gas ins. and maitinance on a second car. And she is not the only one in this situation. And it is really hard to live on one income. Most of us who are single find it hard to live on one income. we have taken second jobs or are working a lot of over time.
IT could be worse, and it will be everytime the price goes up it breaks another family!

There are private orginizations that will help abused women get away from the asshole. ( Forgive me but sometimes you must call it as it is). Usualy social workers, councelers and the hospital workers will know where to find these orginizations. (also any public counselor like 'dear abby' or 'the love line' will have or provide info about help in their area).

On a side note, most goverment orginizations have a policy of sayng no to all first requests regaurdless of the situation. I guess they weed out some of the less esenutal requests that way.

Dennis ( child protection agents would take her children if she lives with an abusive partner)

The thing is we are running out of gas, that is going to reach all of us. Eventualy a hundredthousand will not buy gas that does not exist. I think the gas spike reflects this reality. The gas companys have a firm grip in political bs but supply is limited so if everyone concerves then they can drag the limit out untill the price is at 15 dollors a gallon.

I enjoy riding my bike for fun and to see things that I would miss wile driving. One day wile bikeriding I was stoped by a tourist that wanted to take my picture because people in his country didn't ride bikes.

I can't rember if it was Holland or Finland, but apparently public transport was so well that no one rode bikes , however 80% of their income went to taxes. ,,,,Who is winning?

$3.86 per gallon in this area.....have seen as high as $3.99 in the northern part of New Hampshire. Even the little propane cylinders for portable gas grills are high, never mind the cost to refill a gas cylinder for the grill...........
