How Did You Feel The Day Your Divorce Was Final?

Were you sad, elated or ambivalent?(sp)

Did you celebrate or did you hide out by yourself deep in thought?

I went out with friends to celebrate & ended up feeling like I wanted to crawl into a hole & pull a rock over me.

I was glad that it was finally all over with, the day itself not the divorce........wasnt a bad divorce though, no fighting over the kids or anything since they was grown.......The hardest part for me I guess was coming home to a empty house. I was married for 23 yrs and thought it would last forever did i get a hard awakening smiles.

It was pretty much a day with business as usual - except my ex confessed on the court steps that he'd just done somehting he'll regret for the rest of his life - and he has! - I've been happily single and never looked back - living well IS the best revenge!

Ecstatic and relieved. I was in disbelief for a couple of hours after the fact, but after the shock wore off a bunch of friends and I went out and celebrated.

I went into two months of mourning.......didn't answer the phone nor leave the house....

Interesting though, even as I have posed this same question to personal friends..... most men seem to be depressed, while the women elate.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Interesting also, most women give up everything to move on......
or so it seems.......

These are just personal observations.....

I was stoked all the dissapointment and hurt had left by the time the divorce came through. It still wasn't something that would go down in my 'most proud of' moments though.

My husband called to wish me a happy divorce and I told him I was pregnant. rolling on the floor laughing

We'd been separated for 3 years and were both living with others.

I felt relief I was finally free..

But I also felt very sad that it had all gone wrong and hadn't worked out as I had imagined a marriage should be.
