I think a number of those responses fit... work ethics aren't what they used to be, but neither is a decent wage.

I cannot vote on this poll as my son worked his a** off and ended up with sh*t. I think that it has to do with what parents instilled into the child as far as work ethics go. I do not believe that you should slack on a job just because of a paltry wage. You should do your best whatever the wage/circumstance.wine

I have been around plenty of people my age and older who sucked at work ethics, so I do think it just depends.valentines

Well, my supervisor is the laziest person in the place, and she's 60-ish. The youngest girl is 20-ish, she has her moments, but she is by far harder working than the other two.

The other offices I've worked in were about the same, there are lazies of all ages.

I believe that ethics change. Yes, younger people come to work in ways I never would have greamed of. They have purple hair, pierced noses, tongues, eyebrows. mutiple ear piercings. They wear baggy clothes and chains dangling. So what?

Do they put in a honest days work?? Mostly yes! As Bob Dylan would say, "...the times they are a -changin"

I am more upset when a growm man with millions of dollars steps to the podium to receive an honor for his contributions to music, wears a tux jacket and jeans with holes in them!!

AS a poster has already said, parents play a large role in how these young people enter the work force. There was a time when a man could support his family while making minimum wage. He was proud that he even had a job. But there was a future to look forward to.

When you talk about ethics in the work place...it would be more apropos to look at the ethics of the CEOs. A boss used to have concern for his employees, wanting to keep them on and giving them incentives to stay with the company. Now CEO's drive a company into the ground, after draining all the life and energy from the employees. Then they reaps multi- million dollars bonuses, when the leave a company after ."Down-sizing". Thousands of people out of work...but he gets millions for making them un-employedvery mad frustrated

What worries me the most is the corporate upper level ethics and mentality. They don't give one shit about employees anymore. This in turn cause the employees to not give a shit. I lost my job because it was outsourced for the cheaper labor after giving them 10 years of my life. It is just not worth it to me anymore.

I am making a switch at this point in life and moving towards the smaller companies or even going out on my own.

The place I worked at was the like the twighlight zone of machine shops.
the older workers came is drunk and obnoxious 4 days a week and the 18-22 years olds were the ones coming into work bright eyed and bushy tailed every day.

I'd show some pics but I don't know how to post them on the forums

In response I can tell you, I probably have the last good CEO. 30 year retired army Col. Appleby is the best.

Back at you. I was with Humana Corp. who sold out to Columbia Corp. who sold out to Orlando Regional and layed off employees after 18 years of service because it was cheaper to hire a new college grad for 1/3 the cost. Pension in the hopper. Try to start a new career at 45 or 50 years of age after you are used to making a wage of 20 years of service. Bite me.drinking
