I chose America...but how is loyalty defined??? If " America, right or wrong", is a definition of loyalty, then I can't agree with that!!

In no way did I mean to offend anyone of you. It was meant to be a fun poll. It only let me select a limited amount.

Please feel free to start a thread and add you countries. It is fun to hear from all countries and citizens.

I suppose everybody is going to hate me for this, those that already don't anyway, but I simply do not adhere to the concept of loyalty to one's country. While I appreciate how fortunate I am to be born in a Western country and to be a citizen of one of the modern, advanced Western countries, being a citizen of any one of them would be about the same as far as quality of life and potential for quality of life. Since I was about 15 I have considered and thought about the concept of patriotism and have considered myself a 'citizen of the world.' My loyalties lie with humanity, not with a certain region or government. So, proud to be an American? No, I had nothing to do with it: just an accident of birth. What is there to be proud of? Fortunate to be an American? Yes. But I would be just as fortunate to be a citizen of any other advanced, modern, Western culture.

No one would hate you I hope. Everyone can have an opinion, the glass can be half full or half empty.cheers

That quote never made sense to me really. Certainly has no application in the 08 race as everyone wants the country to do something for them.

OH well~~~

I'm happy being an American...for what it's worth~
