I agree with the innocent until proven guilty...I'm not so sure that I agree with the children being given back because there will still be underage marriages and pregnancies....and I don't believe that religious rights should over-step the rights of the children to be safe from harm...as far as I'm concerned forced underage marriages and pregnancies are sexual abuse!!!!!!!!!!!!

each case should be tried on an individual case. Not all at once. The children that were mistreated and abused should be removed. But not the ones that haven't been abused!

I agree with that....but only to an extent....Is the state not sending them back to be abused???? AND should child protection not include being proactive rather than just reactive????....Is it right that the state has to sit and wait for the children to be harmed?????

dunno confused dunno

kids sposedy cant be removed w/o investigation
to take one anonymous phone call that may have been fake and take hundreds of children from age 2 wks old etc

thats just bull

even frickin 'proven' terrorists found in this country get more due process than that

malarkey

and if there was concern about abuse you dont telegraph your punches (as an agency)

if there is something wrong there it will stop now and not be found out since they know they are being observed

i mean how was this carried out effectively for the good of the children?

it wasnt

thanks ship ive been afraid to thread on this miscarriage of justice
its unconstitutional--maybe something is wrong-doesnt mean we can institute martial law on a state level on an anonymous phone call-id sue the pants off the agency and the state and give some of the money to the volunteer lawyers.

believe me the ACLU is already lining up a case

I can see where you are coming from...but with that thought process...the state would be in everyones home assuming guilt before proving it. It is good to be pro active...but restraints must be in place to keep the state from taking every ones children they think might, at some point, be abused!

THERE IS NO PROOF THEY ARE ABUSED

'underage' marriage?
marriage age varies state to state
many american states have 14 and up w/parents permission

Oh so you agree then that children as young as 8 and 9 should be allowed to legally marry...just where does sexual abuse fit in then?????

and yes as I am concerned...if children are being forced to marry and have kids at those ages....I consider it sexual abuse!!!!!!!!!!

conversely many kids are returned prematurely and w/o enuf supervision after being rightfully removed from the home
to awful consequences

w/ financial constraints state and federal-less money is available for training-for employees for these agencies too many cases per
worker

its a mess.

I agree where there is proven abuse, children should be taken from their parent/guardians. However if some cases people have been accused by people who are just trying to cause trouble.

In the case of children who haven't been abuse it can be equally be just as traumatic being separated from their parents.

if if and if
my understanding of the thread was that they were not extended equal rights under american constitutional law

i agreed and made a few other points
if there was such goings on theyll never know now-they didnt wait to get proof

if the govt starts makin moves based on anonymous phone reports w/ no investigation there will be a revolt
or at least much more secretive behavior

nothing was proven and there is religious freedom but if behaviors w/in that 'religion' break the law then yeah -prosecute
but theres no prosecution w/o investigation and certainly no conviction so what is accomplished?
thats why we have the laws and due process we have

and it was violated in this particular instance

8 yr old have not been mentioned that im aware of
and a mention isnt proof
the patriot act is bad enuf
if any govt agency is allowed to act w/ o due process or impugnity we are in big big trouble

Returning these kids to their parents will be a real trick. Many of the kids don't know who their birth parents are. The DNA tests to clear up some of the confusion are still not complete.

Why on earth do states let their young people marry so young ?

Is it down to religion and if they married its ok for them to have sex. ?
