First check to see if it has a locking feature & unlock it.
Then plug it into your puter & open the file to see what is in it.
Highlight all, right click delete.
Reformat.

If you can't remove data, your thumbdrive is shot.
It happens.
The things are such disposable little toys these days.

Simple, you really have 2 options here.

1) Take your Computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse, throw em in the river.

2) Downgrade to windows xp - legit or otherwise, its easy to do. - If your computer came with windows vista pre-installed than you will have to do some research for XP compatible drivers for your mobo and all of its many controllers, your ethernet/wifi ports and that should get you started.

Hardest to find from my experience of downgrading my friends is your mobo/GPU driver, sound, and Ethernet. But persistence pays off, and most manufacturers (dell, acer, hp, etc.) have at least a few of the drivers to get you started. If you go this route, FIND YOUR ETHERNET/WIFI drivers BEFORE you attempt the downgrade, otherwise guess what? You'll either have to reinstall vista, or borrow a friends computer to do the research, because the internet will not be available if your computer cannot recognize those access points.
