If there is only one person left alive then there is only one storie, make it a good one.
I rather agree with everything else spicy said, the cheek rub is a kitty handshake.

And she is NOT a hunter, I have to admit, leaving in a house with a large patio, in Central America... well, I was hoping she would keep Mickey Mouse and the Mouseketeers at bay...

One night I saw a mouse in my room, it peaked around my monitor wile I was on the internet, I tryed to get it but the bastard was too fast. I went downstairs and got a cat her name was widget and she was an adept hunter a fierst mercyless beast. I sat her down by where I had seen the vermin and widget snifed and I could see that she knew there was a mouse in our house she then turned to me and gave me a look that basicly said 'smells like a mouse, you should do somthing about that'. and left the room. We had ten cats in the house, but i'm the one chasing the mouse. I spent about three hours chasing it and tore my room apart doing so. The pride probably brought it into the house to play with, they had a habit of doing that with birds and one day a snake ( my roommate freaked and then there were no more snakes after that). I have seen them toying with turtles but they just hide up in their shell and get booring for a cat. I digress, mousing is not a sure deal , perhaps when she gets older perhaps not , heck you feed her why should she supliment her food suply? (when she gets older she may catch and release).

Now this might seem like animal cruelty but it worked with my cat.

whenever the cat vlaws the couch, pick him/her up by the bck of the neck and give him/her a light flick on the nose. Cats hate it when getting hit on the nose in any way shape or form.

and ever since than my cat goes outside and uses the trees as scratching posts. if this plan doesnt work than just chuck the cat across the street.

Actually, a version of this is not such a bad idea. When I had a cat, I had at one time a wicker sofa and at another a futon sofa. Neither is upholstered, nothing for the cat to scratch. He learned to scratch on a scratching post, and when I did get a upholstered sofa, he left it alone. thumbs up
