What is the best way to break up with someone? Please post some of your own ideas.
And how do you prefer that someone break up with you?

Face to face...any other way is being a coward....If you cant cause you're too far away...then on the phone...if you once cared for that person...I think a person at least owes that much!!!!!!!!!

if one is to break up with someone the only way in my opinion is face to face. man up or woman up as the case may be. to do it any other way is just taking the easy way out. and whoever is being broken up with at least deserves this.

Why do you ask this question? Are you breaking up with someone now?

copout. laugh

Actually, in our situations here, with these international and long distance relationships, it does usually have to be done through IM or phone.

Yep.

Just curious about what people think. Don't like face to face breakups myself, even if I am the recipient.

I think it depends on how long you've known them.

More than 4 months, they deserve to know face to face

Less than 4 months, text msgwine

I have been known to ignore someone and hope that they will just go away. But it usually doesn't work out so well grin .

Where is the option for "colt 45?

Seriously...
Face to face is the only way..
and I have always talked to them ahead of time about what the problem was that needed to be addressed.
But since I am not a screamer.. they refused to believe my words.

I even told my Ex that she would be getting the divorce papers in a few days.....just so it wouldn't be a shock.

Unfortunately....... there is no good way to break up.
people always get hurt.

yea i agree, face to face is better, got to know that their feelings might still be raw and that they may still love you so yes, face to face let them know it is over, unless of course that couldn't be done, then text them that you have to chat online, not email or leaving a message, chat to say goodbye.

Well...I don't get how people can care for someone at some point and yet want to treat them like crap when saying goodbye...Ignoring...or any other medium...doesn't that seem kind of cruel and selfish....Would you want someone just to ignore you???????

dunno confused D'oh!

Agree........

was interesting to see the majority vote for face to face......

we must all be here because it doesnt seem to happen in life..

perhaps thats why there are so many unresolved issues people carry around with them about relationships...no closuremumbling

I am not in there and I do not know you and the person you want to breakup with. If that is the case then what I suggest is to pray and ask Lord for a solution.

this is amazing a limit on 4 months
on one side they do not lknow each other well enought as to break face to face

but on the other side, they now them well enought as to want to have sex

something sounds odd to me

Yes..that's more what I was thinking...closure and the ability to move on....being honest with the person rather than leave so many unanswered questions.....hug teddy bear hug

I'ts fine for the one doing the breaking up sure...they don't have any issues...but what about the one being left in the dark?????

dunno confused rolling eyes
