The originator of this thread has a good point. Members coming to the site may have all kinds of issues they are dealing with and feel hurt if they take their photo rating as rejection. Everyone’s ‘single story’ is different.. from staying single by choice, to experiencing the death of a spouse, to going through a painful breakup or divorce. If you are in the latter stages of dealing with grief of this kind of loss in your life, as some of you are, you may forget what it felt like early-on when you really needed friendship and positive feedback, and were not so able to 'not care' and to let the negative experiences roll off your back as you learn to do over time. As stated at the top of the Forum Rules page.. Lets apply common sense, golden rules here. Treat others the way you would like to be treated – with respect, kindness, consideration, tolerance and understanding - in the Forum and all areas of the site. Making someone else feel good, makes you feel good!
The Rate Photo feature is not meant to be a competition. It’s intended as an easy, fun way for you to view a lot of members - and to possibly connect with some members who might otherwise not have found while browsing profiles. Right or wrong, the reasons members rate the way they do are varied. Be aware that some members rate everyone the same number in order to page through the photos quickly, without giving any thought to how the number they give actually relates to that particular photo. And unfortunately, some members rate all photos low simply to go through the photos quickly, without showing their rating. Members may vote for a photo only ONE time, so even an intentional low vote from time to time should not have a big effect on your total score, if that is your concern.
RATING is about connecting.. it’s NOT about the numbers. So don’t take the photo rating numbers too seriously. Lighten up and just use this, and all features, as they’re intended.. It should be fun, and just an easy, interesting way to view lots of members and bring attention and mail to you. Remember that a high vote will show on the member’s profile page and it may bring a response and a possible connection. If you don’t like Ratings, you can always turn off the feature on your PHOTO page.
