count how much money was given by each person
how much money get the hotel and how much money has the boy bell

the rest is how you present the numbers to make you a fool

It says that the men PAID 9 dollars.

This means that the men still have 3 dollars total, while the bellhop has 2, and the hotel has 25.

3+2+25=30

It's all in the way the problem is worded.

if you want to count then do it

take 30 coins and do it your self

in one side of the tale put three sets of 10 coins (one set for each person)

total 30 coins

take all coins to the secons side of the table ( you are paying the 30 to the hotle)

now from the 30 coins take 5 coins and place them in the center of the table (the bell boy)

you have 25 coins left in the side of the table (the hotel)

now from then 5 coins, take 3 coins and place each one where originaly each person has his own 10 coins

have you seen any coin disapiar?

this is a problem for kids in elementary school

from the original $30.oo 3 were returned. 2 for the biy bell, and 25 for the hotel

25 + 3 + 2 = 30

or the other way to look at it

25.oo for the hotel
2.oo for the bell boy
