I see this on posts all the time in various different permutations, JMO, IMO, IMHO etc.

What does it mean, If we are not quoting someone, then when is it not our own opinion? Why bother, seems condescending somehow. Anyone else agree?

I say that when I want to stress that my opinion is no more right or wrong than the next person's opinion.

I respect the right of others to state what they think.

And I'm a lover, not a fighter laugh

You would think that, but there have been cases that that arguments broke out because it wasnt there.
So for the sake of not getting jumped, I sometimes use it. Like when it is a touchy subject or is turning touchy.
Just letting the be reminded it is only my opinion, for what ever it is worth.
