I do know that this subject has been beaten to death here. But I am curious, what is the peoples breaking point? Gas in my area is now at 4.28 a gal. up 10cents in a week.
We just got our new contracts, of only 9% that will be stretched over 3 years, doesn't even come close to the increase of the cost of gas. Much less everything else that goes up with it.
So the question is, How far are you willing to let it go on before you break?

I do realize, that other countries are paying even more the we do in the US, and it s hard to understand how people can survive the cost.

I already broke, I now use public transportation.

Now I only use my car one day a week, to go to the laundermat to wash my clothes & on the way back from the laundermat I go to the grocery store & shop for the week. Entire round trip is only 5 miles.

Spanish lorry drivers have already had a strike, the goverment have capitulated to SOME of their demands, and some of them are returning to work on Monday. In the meantime, we have no petrol, the market did not open today, some of the stalls where set up outside, but not a lot there apart from what the grow themselves, and the supermarket shelves are empty. No fresh meat or bread. Petrol rose from €1,10 to €1.229 a litre overnight.

Because the parts for car spares made in Spain and shipped to France, where not delivered, three large car manufactures closed on Friday.

Hey Girl!, Your wriht I know, but I am in the rame of mind that the people have to reach a breaking point before they will do something. well some people not all. I think in some cases (not everyone) have to have it personally hurt them before they will get involved. And I supose I was wondering just how long we had to wait before someone did come up with a solution?

This is exactly what I am talking about. Things are hard on all of us all over the world. and it just keeps getting worse. where and how does thi all end, do we have any control over it? Or can we get some control?
The world seemed to split apart over oil, I really thin it would be a nice thing if it also banded the world together again. Just a dream!

I know the feeling! I walk to work, everyday on bad days when the weather is not the greatest I ride in with others that pool together. But I am not real impressed wth the walk home, as I get out at night.

Flight rates have gone up, and some planes have been grounded! When I heard this on the news the other day at work, I chuckled and said I hope some oil tycoon can't get a seat on a plane he wants because there cutting back to conserve! But I guess they all have there own Jets, and dont care how much they use.

Morning all! Don't think there is a breaking point in the US. A lot of us don't have a choice. I have to have a truck for tools and have to go where the work is so its grin and bear it. Unfortunately, it means I have to raise my prices and pass the cost on. I think the gas prices will settle down some after the dollar starts to strengthen. Alot of the price increase has to do with investors pumping up the price of crude as a hedge against the strength of the dollar.

I so agree with your posts. Good ones too. Gas here is over 4 dollars a gallon and with the hurricane seasone here it is costing big bucks for the containers to store for the generator. Between the gas and charging more for supplies and groceries to deliver this stuff because of their fuel costs, I have teamed up with a neighbor to grocery shop and pet food store, even we buy at Sams club and split the packages, like paper products for the bath that come in bulk.handshake motorcycle

Thats a great sugjestion to cut down on the cost. We need to conserve where can, so we are not paying the high prices this has caused. Unfortunatly there are a lot of people who have lost there jobs because of this, and more everyday are following. And some are taking a cut in pay to keep there jobs while prices stay on the rise.
Some years back something like this happend and the government put a freeze on, so prices could not break the
American people. But it seems this time they just dont care what happens to the rest of us.
