Do you really think the drug problem is that bad? I would be offended to be asked to take a drug test. I don't do drugs, I don't live that kind of lifestyle, and don't think I should have to prove a negative. However, if my job involved being a pilot or driver or air traffic controller, okay, I guess so, but for most jobs, no..I'd say not necessary....As long as the employee may not be immediately putting anyone in danger...it is not needed. Monitor their performance okay, after hired, but to put everyone through such a test because a very few are misbehaving....not right.

This is a good point. But doesn't any kind of drug use show up on a text, even if you are, say, only doing it on weekends?

There are different types of drug tests and some drugs don't show up after a certain period of time on the more basic ones, but pot always does.
When I worked on drilling rigs it was standard procedure to be tested, but the vast majority were using something to mask their pot smoking.

I don't know...it's another world to me...So what is the point of the drug testing if people can take something to mask it?

That was for the scheduled tests. There were spot tests on the rig itself and those couldn't be masked.

Ick...i've had to do that a few times...when I was in school and doing temp work on holidays and summers...some jobs asked for drug testing....

Yes, for months afterwards. It ends up in your hair folicles and they can even determine with scary accuracy when you smoked and how much.

Well, my friend is an engeneering, he does lab work a lot and he smokes marijuana everyday...and he was working at one of the topest companies...in Germany...you know which one, can't diminish their image a slight bit...

Yep, happened to a guy I worked with. Had smoke months before at a concert and when it came time for the company to hire him permanently instead of as a contractor, they did a hair test and he failed

OMG....see, I think that is horrible....too much testing...not fair....

If they ask for a pap smear, i'm in!
