The number of cells it takes to make up one square centimetre of a leaf or petal is astronomical.

More mind boggling than that, is that within that square centimetre, the cells comprise a
very small part of the area, meaning the rest of the area is nothing but space.


How/why is it that our eyes cannot see that empty space, the larger portion,
yet we see the smaller makeup of that area as solid beautiful form?
