Hey Ship do you have Walmart or Ikea where you live? They have storage bookcases or units that have adjustable shelves so that way when and if you decide to move then you can take them with you. In the meantime you can house the beautiful collection of music.

I wish there was an IKEA, but I do have a Wal-Marts!! Thanks to all for the sugestions. I want to build an entire wall unit with an area for the sofa to fit into, and have book cases and shelves surrounding it!!

As well, don't forget to check out all the local furniture places ..... or maybe have someone custom build you a unit. Check out some ideas for units on the internet and start going to some auctions/yard sales etc. You just never know what you'll find. People here sometimes just leave items on the side of the road - good shape just can't be bothered to sell them. Keep your eyes open!

But hey if its a lawn mowing running ........ don't take it. I remember in the paper there was a letter from someone saying that someone stole their lawnmower.

Yes, I have a turntable!! But I saw a system in Targets, Friday night, that lets you record your LPs and 45's to CD. All in one unit!!!

Groovy!!Anyone can loan me $300?

I was going to get one of those & then read several reviews from people who'd bought them...the consensus...they didn't recommend it.

I cheaper way to transfer from LP to CD is using a free program called audacity. audacity.sourceforge.net is where you'll find the program (please forgive me mods bowing The only equipment you may need to purchase is the Stereo Audio cable to run from your stereo to your computer. I transferred my LP's to CD's, and even my 45's, so I could play them in my car.

Once you have them transferred, you might feel a little freerer about selling them (although I kept mine...but I don't have 300....now CD's I have about 350...lol...in a changer & the jewel cases are stored in the garage in case I move again ....can't move the changer with the CD's in it.)

After seeing what's in the collection, maybe you wouldn't want to part with them after changing them over to CD's.

OR...after changing them over to CD's you'd be able to go through & pick the ones you really want to keep....like the autographed ones, etc.

I have a couple of 78's, but wasn't able to record them over because the turntable I have doesn't have 78 speed, just 45 & 33.

I used to have more LP's, but did a major purge while I was married (he didn't like some of my music & felt I should get rid of it).

I'll def keep the collectables!! Maybe all of them!! It's the nostalgia of the softly crackling noises that is almost romantic!!

I have visions of a fire place a nice lady and an old LP playing Boots Randolf in the back gound . Or maybe Acker Bilk's "Stranger on the Shore"hug
